Hot water on - Radiators heat up from return leg

OK I've investigated a bit further and the return from the cylinder is the return for all the radiators but is also before all the radiators in the system. It now makes sense to me that all the radiators can heat up because when the cylinder coil is being heated the return from the coil can...

Ah ok. Thanks for the graphics.

Hot water on - Radiators heat up from return leg

So did you have the return from the tank moved in the end to solve the issue? What I’d really like to do now is identify how the pipes come together and where so I know if the issue is as he describes in that video.

Hot water on - Radiators heat up from return leg

This is video that made me suspicious that reverse circulation might be the issue.

Hot water on - Radiators heat up from return leg

Hi, I think we have had this issue since we moved into our house about 6 years ago. I've adapted how we heat our hot water (set to short periods and times of day) so it hasn't effected us much but after looking into this further I think there is seriously something wrong with our system. Basic...

Shower losing flow rate due to buildup on filter

In the end a plumber removed a filter from the hot water feed to the shower and I've not had issues since. Never determined the cause. We do get a lot of limescale round here but it never acted like limescale is supposed to in vinegar so I don't know what it was sorry. Someone recently told me...

Shower losing flow rate due to buildup on filter

So shower is working again. The flow for the hot water was poor and it was fixed when he found another filter dedicated to the hot feed and removed that. Said there wasn’t anything obviously on the filter by the time it was removed but it did solve the problem. Strange that there is a hidden...

Shower losing flow rate due to buildup on filter

So after about 24 hours in kettle descaler it was unaffected. Not really sure what to do now. It’s still forming on the sink strainer. I’ve got someone trying to see if there is a blockage on the shower pipe work so I guess I will go from there.

Shower losing flow rate due to buildup on filter

Nothing in either immediately. Will leave for a bit.

Shower losing flow rate due to buildup on filter

I'm assuming limescale can build up in pipework and this could be the ultimate cause of my shower issues? What is the best way to confirm this and what is a normal way to fix such an issue? I'm going to ask a plumber to investigate and fix but it would be nice to know what to expect so I can...

Shower losing flow rate due to buildup on filter

She emptied the tank and I believe she said inspected the baffle through the PRV (which she then swapped as it was covered in limescale). I suspect the swaping of the PRV was more of a way to make the job chargable rather than an inspection but honestly at this stage my biggest concern is having...

Shower losing flow rate due to buildup on filter

So engineer visited and has confrimed the baffle is intact and isn't the issue. Said the tank was collecting a lot of limescale and she believed this is what I'm seeing on the shower filter. Suggested I might be able to get someone to remove the limescale from the tank and that I should use a...

Shower losing flow rate due to buildup on filter

I’ve booked for a Megaflow engineer. £270 inc parts and labour if it can be fixed (which I’m assuming it won’t) or £90 inspection fee if it cannot be fixed. Warranty situation is very confusing as they say 25 years on the cylinder but we’re non committal on the membrane. Looks like others have...

Shower losing flow rate due to buildup on filter

Ah thanks so I certainly don’t have good pressure and haven’t really replenished the air gap successfully. How do I drain at floor level? Megaflow don’t seem to show instructions if your unit in ground floor but surely it isn’t that much more complicated?

Shower losing flow rate due to buildup on filter

Very helpful thanks. I struggled to find those types of threads and that picture does seem similar to what I'm seeing unfortunately. I'm going to contact Megaflow and see what they think. The warranty situation confuses me. Its about 9 years old but installed by the previous owner. Anyway I will...

Shower losing flow rate due to buildup on filter

So filter cleaned last week and now looks like below. Even after cleaning the pressure is poor. Again the filter is easily cleaned and the debris has a sort of blue white colour. I’ve tried to replenish the air gap in the mega flow again and got maybe a minute of gurgling. It’s on the bottom...

Shower losing flow rate due to buildup on filter

Is there a way to confirm this. It’s not that old and the particles are easily dissolved. I would have thought the situation your describing would fill the filter with something that wouldn’t dissolve?

Shower losing flow rate due to buildup on filter

Hi, I have an upstairs shower (Aqualisa) which has been losing pressure or flow rate very quickly over the last few months. Initially I thought this was limited to the shower and replaced the thermostat cartridge but after it happening again I've realised I keep getting a buildup of sugar...
