    Car warranties

Paperwork existed for the parts. The work was done. When the last car was chopped in for a Volvo, the dealers commented on what good condition it was in. My cars are serviced and maintained to a very high standard. No bodging here. Anyhow now I'm into high value cars I've had it garage serviced...

    Alternator

It's from the USA! Wonder how it came to be fitted to a 105E engine? I'd have thought you could fit a Lucas one , there's normally some adjustment available or you could use some washers as packing. Make sure the pulleys line up and get the connecting plug .

    Car warranties

Receipts and paperwork and a stamped book don't prove what work was done. Only that some parts have been purchased. You can get an invoice for oil and filter but it doesn't prove the oil was changed. I'd be amazed if any manufacturer honours a warranty claim on an DIY serviced vehicle.

Probably started off with a dynamo! Has the Prestolite got an external regulator? Photos might help

Carbon residue on the starter commutator

Bearings might have dried out and need a bit of lube.

    Handbrake Cables

My 406 had a good handbrake. I think I tweaked the adjusters up once. I've got a Machine Mart trolley jack 2 ton 500mm lift. New in 1991, still going strong. Never been serviced, just kept clean. I've heard bad reports about SGS customer service and a friend bought a trolley jack which sank...

    Handbrake Cables

This doesn't explain why it wasn't working properly in the first place. Not that it seems to have been the cause but I wouldn't touch cheap brake parts with a barge pole.

    Car warranties

Yes but presumably you have a business stamp you can stamp the service book with? I have a friend who stamped my books for a few £'s.

If Somebody Told Me That As A Kid I Would Not Have Believed It...

Does anyone remember an advert- "One day Thomas, xxxxxxxx will come in small boxes" I can't remember what it was though, hence the xxxxxxx.

    Car warranties

Yes but no need to use a main dealer, will have to be done to spec and using approved/genuine spares. Best to get a VAT regd garage to do the work. I doubt if you doing the work would satisfy the terms of the guarantee!

2006 Fiesta, driveshaft or differential noise

Fair comment. Easy to test where the problem lies.

    New vs Used?

The choice there depends on how much you want to shell out! I think your hopes of any of them performing above the market in the future would depend on keeping the mileage minimal and the car in superb condition. A lot of old cars that are worth lots now went through a " banger" phase when most...

2006 Fiesta, driveshaft or differential noise

I can believe that. The ride on the early C5s came in for criticism.

    Tesla cheaper than an Audi?

    Space saver spare wheel

The tyre you have MAY fit the correct rim, if that's any help.

2006 Fiesta, driveshaft or differential noise

I nearly bought one of the last C5's , a 16 reg 2.0Hdi Exclusive Tourer with the Tech pack. Had an 06 reg one as a company car. Friends ran CX's and GS's in the 1970's. Maybe the DS brand will see some of the old Citroen quirkiness return.

    New vs Used?

The term ICE would include diesels, surely? If you're considering M's RS's and AMG's , then environmental considerations aren't your first concern?

    Dual Flush Button on WC

Leave the lid off the cistern and see if it still leaks water into the bowl. Water level might be set too high.
