How can I double shoot this issue? 12v Water Tap..

That looks like the set up in a caravan. If it is make sure the pump is firmly plugged into the socket on the caravan and that the terminals are clean.

Electrician. Chased Walls and Installed Sockets But Wires Are Not Capped. Is this Correct

I think you could cut into the wall above the socket in photo two and fit a back box with a blank plate one it. That would be a visible sign that the cables are running at a different level. Not ideal but I think it would create a safe zone and you would not need to touch the cables. A better...

    Meter change and DNO fuse

I phoned my DNO and asked if someone would come to pull the main fuse so I could fit a new consumer unit. The lady on the phone asked if I was happy to pull it myself and I said I was. She then asked when I would do the work and said that one of their engineers would visit a day or so later...

    Solar hybrid advice

I agree that a forum on here for Solar Panels would be good. I've just had a quote for fitting them on my house and with the increasing costs I wonder if I should spend the money. I trust this forum to be honest and not controlled by one company.

LED tube to replace fluorescent tube in existing batten

Another factor is where they are fitted. I was asked to look at fluorescent fittings in a hall that was used by a number of youth groups. Fluorescent tubes in fittings with no protection could easily be broken by a football or similar weapon. I looked at the cost of fitting mesh covers and then...

    Wiring to outside lights.

I've used four core to wire up my outside lights as I have a pir at each end of the run of lights. Maybe the electrician was wiring with this in mind or maybe at one time there was another pir in use.

    Down pipe

Report it to the council and ask them to check it, say you are worried about it. Let them as owners deal with any problems.

    Child Seat

Thanks Mottie. The term "Adult and child toilet seat" is what I needed. I have found a few places that sell them. (I also agree about the need for a step

    Child Seat

I was in a cafe and saw this neat arrngement of a seat for a child. I do some work in a church and this would be ideal for them but I don't have a clue what it is called, who makes it, or where to buy it. I'd really appreciate any pointers to where I can get some of these.

AM I supposed to just pull these off?!

Stop it, my wife phoned me a few years ago, ((ages ago as I was at work and I retired 10 yers ago) to say a fuse had "blown". I went to an old fashioned ironmogers and bought a card of fuse wire. I got home and discovered 3 or 4 similar cards on the shelf under the fuse box. (I have now...

    Old Mastic

I built a box out of some uPVC to store some things in my caravan. It was all glued together with mastic. I went the next day to check it and it had fallen apart. The mastic was all soft and slimy. I looked carefully at the tube of mastic, and it was best before March 2016. I now know that...

    Settle an Argument Please

I agree but sometimes life interferes. To be more exact I boil the kettle then my wife calls for me to help her get out of bed or to get dressed. There must be thousands of people like me who are looking after a disabled partner so frequently have to stop and help.

    Settle an Argument Please

I sometimes wonder why electric kettles are not made with well insulated sides and lid. If I boil the water and return half an hour later the water is nearly cold. It would be more energy efficient to keep water hot once it has been heated.

    Suspending coax for tv aerial

The app is called "DTV Antennas" The screen shot shows what I see at home. Clicking on a transmitter gives more info including is the antena needs to be vertical or horizontal, this is handy in the caravan

    Suspending coax for tv aerial

It won't work as my house is between the Summerhouse and the transmitter. I also have a caravan so I have an app on my phone that shows the direction of all nearby transmitters. The app is great when arriving at a camp site.

    Suspending coax for tv aerial

I want to put a TV in a summerhouse in my garden. I am thinking that the easiest way to get the signal to the TV is to run a length of coax from the eaves of the house to the summerhouse. If I do this it will be only about 5 metres of suspended cable and I was thinking of winding the coax...

    Gas Pipe Bonding

That is really helpful. The sentence "Where practicable the connection shall be made within 600 mm of the meter outlet union or at the point of entry to the building if the meter is external.” seems relevant. It would be an easy fix to bond from near the meter to the supplier’s earth, but it...

    Gas Pipe Bonding

That is interesting as when I had a smart gas meter fitted the installer said that I need to bond the pipe near the meter. the meter is in an external box at ground level, and I live in a first floor flat. The gas pipe is bonded to earth near the boiler, there is about 150mm of gas pipe inside...
