How to Unhook/Lift up One Side of the Curtain Track Rail?

That looks like a type sold by John Lewis? I have that and there are mid track supports so nothing can be slid along the track. the track has runners hanging down below

Side passage roof with a concrete 4 foot fence.

Ok. So I have a slightly triangle shaped side passage due to my house being on a corner. The fence that I put in has concrete posts, about 4 feet high. They will be 12-24” into the ground (concreted) The paving next to the fence is just slabs laid on sand. I’d like to cover the passage for...

    OSB FINISH

In areas that are likely soaked you could use acrylic splash backs? Or use cheap arrylic from greenhouse type places screwed in the higher risk areas. That gives the ability to put paper/pictures/logos under the plastic. The more normal areas could be simply painted. Someone I know had a desktop...

Double glazed unit for a bathroom window

Not a pro, but I don’t think there are regs that force frosted glass? Sometimes Building Control/planning would insist on it if windows are close to each other.

How difficult is it to install outside front door lights?

Sound fair for a day’s work? My back light that operate on PIR can be powered on or off via a switch that I installed in the garage. But if I wanted them on all night, I switch the power on and off quickly which tells the PIR to ignore its signals and stay on until the sensor detects daylight...

Preventing dust transfer during renovation of hall

Most builders can build a contact fit 2x2 frame and tape heavy polythene to it. You can also but sheets with a zip type door, although no idea how good they are...

    Painting Chrome

You should be able to sand the chrome effect off. There are “chrome effect” paints but you may be better to use a bright colour.

Floating floor in garage conversion - how to construct

When I built a recording studio in a garage we used rockwool as the floor, then glued the chipboard together to form one massive sheet as we went. So long as you’re careful in installation you can float the entire floor without issue. Or create small pads of concrete as bearers for timber...

Floating floor in garage conversion - how to construct

I’d be wary of free weights on a chipboard floor? Ply might be better? No matter how careful you are, a weight will get dropped. There are rubber mats that might mitigate accidents.

Awkward size to build a side gate?

You could use any % split of gates that you want. If the bar above doesn’t need to move, many people around where I live make the bar support a tiny sloped and tiled “roof” , which also discourages climbing over. Personally I would tend to hinge the lesser used side rather than fix it. Almost...

Awkward size to build a side gate?

You could build a “goal post” system so there is a rail 6 feet 6 off the ground Then one gate can be left closed unless needed. One post could be screwed to the house, the other (maybe ) to the fence post and the horizontal acts to brace the fence side. The horizontal need not be a massive...

    Security screws/bolts on tee hinges

We used to have the old security screws at work, they worked, but were a pain if you wanted them out. We also used a more modern type that was more like a sort of torx, but reversed. The head was a raised bump, flat on the top. There were key ways on the dome’s sides. The tool was like a nut...

Best way to cut across floorboards in limited space?

Plunge saws are like a circular saw but fitted with a stop. You lay them on a track, start the saw and cut along the line. You’d have to manually cut at the wall. https://deltatools.co.uk/product/plunge-saw-with-2x-guard-rail/ https://brandonhirestation.com/circular-saw-hire You might find it...

Best way to cut across floorboards in limited space?

Loose rockwool will be a challenge for soundproofing. Acoustic slabs for floors are close to huge wheatabix.

Best way to cut across floorboards in limited space?

You’d normally use resilient strips or sheets of thin rockwool then lay a floating floor. Any chance of a diagram of what you have? I have never run air or pipes in a floating floor https://www.rockwool.com/uk/products-and-applications/product-overview/floor-solutions/acoustic-rockfloor-en-gb/...
