Many thanks Agile (saved me an unneccesary engineers visit!), i had exactly the same problem with mine (Biasi Riva Compact HE 24SM). I checked the condensate pipe outside and sure enough it was frozen again a couple of kettles of water on the pipes and its all working fine again.

Thanks for the replies guys, i pulled the valve out last night and the problem was caused by a rubber o ring that had moved slighlty and was letting water by. I repositioned it correctly, refitted and everything is working fine now.

Thanks for the reply, i can't find the manufacturer of the tap, the bathroom was installed before we bought the house. Here is a pic, can anyone identify it? At the back of the tap heads are small coloured markings for hot and cold, this might be the key to identifying it?

Thanks, its only just started happening so the valve sounds like the best bet. How to i go about removing the valve? I assume i'll need to remove the tap completely?

My bath's shower mixer tap has recently developed a fault which i'm not sure is servicable or whether i need a whole new tap. Basically the adjuster for switching between shower mode / tap mode is faulty, when switching to shower mode, the bath taps are still running with the shower too, but...
