Covering a conservatory during roofing work

I don't have builders, I have a roofer waiting to go on the roof when the scaffolding is up. He has recommended a firm of scaffolders he uses as he does not do his own scaffolding, but they have not had to do a job before like mine ie over a conservatory in a slightly tricky position. Sheets of...

Covering a conservatory during roofing work

We urgently need some repair work done on our Victorian semi - slate roof and cast iron gutter. It will need scaffolding to get to it and this has to be built on top of our lean to conservatory at the side of the house. We want to get the conservatory glass roof covered before the scaffolding...

Repairing a fire parapet wall on a Victorian roof - cost

I live in a Victorian "halls adjoining" house. My neighbour had his roof repaired a couple of years ago and this included his side of the fire parapet wall which separates our two roofs. His builder was supposed to repair my side at the same time but there was a communications failure and he...

Fridge Freezer built into fitted Magnet kitchen unit

Quick follow up question - plinth sizes have changed on standard kitchen units since I bought my kitchen and fridge freezer. Have appliance heights changed as well? If I need a replacement, will a modern fridge freezer still fit into my old style housing or will it be too tall? rockette

I wonder if anyone can help. I have a fitted Magnet Old English kitchen. Over 10 years old now but popular at the time with thousands sold. Mine is still going fine in general. I gather they no longer make them and there are no spare parts. (It seems modern kitchens have a different size spec...

    Victorian tiled front path

Interestingly I was up in Ironbridge a few months ago, and a specialist company has taken over part of the old Jackfield tile works there and is making original encaustic Victorian style tiles - like you see in halls etc. They are pretty dear but are the real deal. I don't know how well they...

    Victorian tiled front path

I have a short tiled path up to my front door. It is laid with red, black and yellow brick Victorian tiles in a traditional geometric pattern. It is around 3 feet wide by 20 feet long. My immediate neighbour has a matching path. The paths are showing their age now. Recently 2 nearby...

Potterton Puma 100 pilot light gone out

We have a Potterton Puma 100 combi boiler installed 1996. Since then it has had regular call outs including two new pumps (in 2002 and 2003) and a new PCB in 2003. It had a new auto air vent in 2004. Yesterday the pilot light went out but we managed to relight it OK. Today although ignition...
