The Stuart Turner Monsoon is designed to fit to 22mm pipework - mine is 15mm. Is it OK to connect it to 15mm? I'm looking at the 2 Bar twin pump

    Shower/Bath pump staying on - Salamander CT75

I've had 5 Salamander Pumps in the past 7 years. I got the original from Screwfix and wwhen I take it back they simply replace it FOC. Previously the pumps just packed up - one evidently had a broken bearing. The last time, I upgraded from the CT50 to the CT75 in case the CT50 wasn't man enough...

    Shower/Bath pump staying on - Salamander CT75

I have a Salamander CT75 supplying two showers and a Bath. Recently the pump has started to stay on after turning off the shower or bath. Repeated turning on and off stops it. Nothing has changed plumbing wise. Is this an indicator of an issue? Cheers Kevin

    Salamander CT50 Pump keeps failing

I had a Salamander CT50 Pump fitted around 5 years ago to supply a Bath/Shower and an en-suite Shower. It worked fine for 3 years then it started making a racket (probably bearing failure) and I replaced it. The second one lasted just under a year, the third about 6 months and the fourth is now...

    Plastering advice for DIYer please!

Hi Chaps I removed a wooden Curtain rail that was embedded in plaster and some of the plaster came away. It's too small a job to get a plasterer i so I'm going to have a go at it. From experience, I need to add a scratch coat then a 2mm or so finishing coat (thistle?) but as you can see from...

Can't find cold water Isolator (stopcock)

Thanks Oldbuffer. I mis-described it as a Electric Shower, point taken. The new Shower is exactly the same as the previous shower so no problem there. My question has been answers! There is no water tank - the reason I ask about it being mains-fed is that I always understood that only the...

Can't find cold water Isolator (stopcock)

I am looking to replace a Power Shower at home. It's straight replacement with Power and cold water. The Power is a switch on the consumer unit. My issue is that I can't find an isolator for the cold water feed. The pipe comes out through a tile. The house is new and there are no exposed pipes...

    Brake Caliper specialists please?!

Thanks Harry, there are two of us doing it. The front Discs and Pads were simple but when doing the rears it turned into a bit of a challenge! Still, every problem is the opportunity to learn :)

    Brake Caliper specialists please?!

Hi all While changing brake pads on a Merc A180 I damaged the brake piston so I have one on order. I know how it goes back on but should the rear/hollow of the replacement Piston be filled with fluid first or does the piston fill up when I unclamp the brake fluid pipe? Where does the air in...

How to calculate cost of Electric CH Boiler

Wow - some comprehensive answers - great information. I agree that Ground Source Heat Pumps are possibly the future. Thanks @flameport for the rather obvious  calculation - and yes, it's quite an expensive conversion. I won't be making the change anytime soon. Kevin

How to calculate cost of Electric CH Boiler

Hi Hyporthetical question: If I replaced my Gas CH Boiler with an Electric CH Boiler, how much would my Electric bill be? How do I calculate, using my existing gas usage, how much the equivalent Electric usage would cost? Any pointers would be great, Kevin

    Artificial Grass Electric Shock

Chaps My Gardin has artificial Grass. After a few minutes walking on it if you touch anything metal you get a sizeable shock. My dog yelps everytime he puts his nose on anything. Is it possible to Earth (parden the pun) the lawn or somehow mitigate the static build up? Kevin
