Drilled hole TOO BIG for screw/rawlplug

Simple idea but could you not drill a hole smaller than you need to begin with and hammer or fit the rawlplug in so it fits snug as opposed to in a hole that gets too big?

    Help with boiler choice.

The boiler has been serviced since being put in. Its been a bind since day one. The boiler was installed by my father in law, a retired plumber in the trade since he was teenage. Just didnt have the CORGI certification. Fair enough, I wouldnt pay thousands of pounds for nothing either...

    Help with boiler choice.

That Ecotec 831 looks like a nice boiler but its almost £1000. With fitting on top this is going to be expensive..isn't it. I always like to do things myself but this is a job for the pros really. I need the pieces of paper, especially if we should move which could well be on the cards in a year...

    Help with boiler choice.

I've learnt a fair bit coming on here and have to some degree of success mended our piece of s**t known as a Ravenheat LS 80 combi boiler. I have to say you do get what you pay for as after only three years its about to die. Its leaking water badly from the blow out pipe and it seems it could...

Removing ceramic floor tiles to lay down some new ones.

A few years ago we decorated our kitchen and got a pro in to lay some ceramic quarry tiles down. He used a Unibond tile cement for wood floors. He layed the tiles on top of well stuck down vinyl tiles and scored them so they would adhere better. However I'm redecorating the kitchen again and...

Painting over pre painted fence panels.

For the last couple of years I've painted my fences with a sprayer using Cuprinol, every year I have to do them again as the rain eventually washes it off. I have always painted them forest green but want to change the coluor of them to say a dark brown. Am I able to spray over the green with...

Pressure loss not normal...need help with mystery!

Mr. Lil, you need to release the water pressure, and check the air pressure in the expansion vessel. (assuming you haven't done this already). Thankyou...I havent done this as unfortunately I wouldnt know where to start or how to do this

Pressure loss not normal...need help with mystery!

Blimey..whats going on here!!! I changed the whole PRV as it is a push fit type. It is acting exactly the same as the one I changed so seems a bit coincidental but the fact both may be faulty did cross my mind. The gauge I go by is the one on the boiler of which the red needle is just after...

Pressure loss not normal...need help with mystery!

Great....any ideas where it is...I know they have a car type valve on them. Is it at the back of the boiler or separate or are all boilers different??

    i'm a fool 2

Rebuilt a Metro Turbo engine years ago using sports components including Power Max pistons at £60 each  Spent over a week getting it sorted properly and then proudly started it and used it to get to work. However, being fresh and new I'd put running in oil in the engine to be changed...

Pressure loss not normal...need help with mystery!

My Ravenheat LS80 Silver Star boiler is becoming a complete mystery. The boiler keeps losing pressure so I have to keep refilling. It works fine when running but gradually the water goes out via the relief outlet in the wall. I asked here for advice and the PRV being nackered was suggested...

    Super glue on paintwork!

Autoglym Intensive Tar remover will remove it I'm sure. Top quality car product and costs about a fiver. You will need to polish the paintwork after using it as it removes the wax from your paintwork. This is a multi use product and I've used it with great results

How hard is it to get a PRV!!

I did e-mail Ravenheat in the first instance to see if I could purchase the part from them and they recommended a website that sells their spares. As I say they had the push fit and the condenser one but not my one!! Anyway I will call Ravenheat in the morning to see about a part number..cheers

How hard is it to get a PRV!!

I'm trying to replace my PRV on my Ravenheat Silver Star Combi boiler. I found the part number in the instruction book and have looked across the internet to purchase one. I eventually thought I'd found one and bought one. Then I recieved an e-mail saying Ravenheat no longer dtock this part...
