    Fitting soffit vents.

In both the instances where I’ve drilled UPVC soffits, the plastic has been fitted snugly against the original wooden section, so I don’t think you’ll need any kind of extension. From memory the plastic vents fit snugly into a 70mm hole.

    Fitting soffit vents.

In both the situations where I fitted soffit vents, the UPVC soffits were fitted directly over the old wooden ones. So there was a good solid surface for me to drill into. I’d imagine that if it was UPVC soffits only there might be some vibration, but drilled with care, no problem.

    Loft ventilation question

I've answered your post on the " fitting soffit vents" thread, but regarding removing existing condensation, if the loft is completely sealed you could use a dehumidifier up there if you have one. If you don't have a dehumidifier then you'd have to pay upwards of £150 to buy one big enough to...

    Fitting soffit vents.

Hi Chatlow yes, the soffit and felt vents did get rid of the vast majority of the condensation. In fact, its worked for us twice, because we moved to another bungalow in 2022 and had exactly the same problem during a spell of cold weather at the end of 2023. The roof in this bungalow was...

Can you work on valve-to-rad connections without draining?

Thanks for that. I might even put them on my early Christmas list!

Can you work on valve-to-rad connections without draining?

Well, as is no doubt obvious from my enquiries I’m a DIYer and not a professional, but they certainly strike me as something I ought to keep in my toolbox.

Can you work on valve-to-rad connections without draining?

Blimey, never seen those before. Some sort of temporary stopper?

Can you work on valve-to-rad connections without draining?

It’s compression, and the joint is actually dry at the moment after weeping slightly for a day or two following a rad swap. So I’ll just monitor for now, but definitely put your advice to good use if it leaks again.

Can you work on valve-to-rad connections without draining?

Much obliged for that info, thanks. I have a weeping rad-nut-to-valve connection that I need to tackle.

Can you work on valve-to-rad connections without draining?

I've seen videos on YouTube in which its claimed that if you turn off both radiator valves then open the bleed screw ( and close it again) you can create a vacuum in the rad that enables you to work on valve-to-rad connections without draining, or losing much water. Does that actually work in...

    BBC news Black out

Let me be clear about what I’m saying: that there is more balance in GBN than others have suggested, yes, though the extent of that balance and its influence on their output has to be seen in the light of an anti-immigration, pro Daily-Telegraph-reader agenda. I’d be the first to acknowledge the...

Bit of free advice for you, old lad. You clearly don't understand how to conduct a rational discussion about politics, but don't despair: there's a way forward. Join a couple of political forums elsewhere, and observe how others do it. See how they make an argument, and how others counter that...

I meant people like you, old son. Slavishly doing the bidding of those who want just one source of news, one that soothes their pathological need to be right about everything. Incidentally, can you not parcel up your nonsense in one neat package, to save me trawling through a bunch of posts...

Clever editing? Can I suggest that if you must insist on getting up early in the morning and posting here, you have some coffee and wake up first. An uninformed person who is half asleep is even more likely to post idiotic nonsense than one who is wide awake.

There isn't really much point in trying to debate with you, is there? You've totally ignored my observation, based on fact, that GBN gives plenty of airtime to left wing commentators. You prefer to avoid any inconvenient truths that threaten your tired old preconceptions and recycle the same...

The folks who are "ripping it to shreds" are of course entitled to their opinion. But GBN, despite the concerted campaign to prevent the channel acquiring any paid advertising (another tactic that the book-burning left uses to try to silence those who don't unconditionally accept their...

    BBC news Black out

For once I'd agree with you. It features political discussion programmes with panels who discuss the news, features focused on current news items, and news bulletins. Its never pretended to be anything else, except in its billing title. And as I said above, by no means do all of the...

You guys have become so damned excited about that darned channel that I thought it only fair to do some research on your behalf. No, don't thank me..... So I tuned into GBN this evening, and what did I find? A parade of raving lefties, that's what! First, Nigel Nelson, ex-political editor of...
