Better that going to prison which is just a crime training camp, some people might even discover a career in the military. Plus with military service they can be head of the queue for conscription, then they can try their knife skills in the theatre of war.

Military service should be a sentencing option for some crimes such as carrying knives, it would keep them out of prison, plus they might learn something worthwhile. Or maybe a bit like speeding, where you get the option of an education course, with no points and no record, maybe minor crimes...

You won't have to spring it more than 2cm once the nut is undone, obviously if you find you have to force it too much stop but you should easily be able to take that out as one lump especially if you undo both nuts. Those pump nuts will take some shifting, not worth it unless you are forced too...
