To be fair it’s expensive felt that’s been used but it’s likely to lead to condensation in your loft space. They specify you need cross flow ventilation and a non breather felt when using man made slates.

Sorry to be an added bearer to bad news, but permavent should be counter battened when using man made slates or a non breather underlay should have been used.

The roofing work in the pictures looks perfectly water tight and dare I say maybe above and beyond! 11 out of 10 for effort to the roofer. Chimneys are notoriously bad for leaks and more often than not it comes from the top. Get the chimney re flaunched and see if that helps.

I don’t usually comment on posts on this.... trying to soaker a single lap tile is ridiculous and damn near impossible unless constructed in a way that is well over engineered! They invented secret gutters for flat single lap tiles.

That’s true m8. So how would you secret gutter a small chimney with minimal pitch?

This is quite interesting really. Single lap tiles can’t really be soakered unless it’s a secret gutter but then how is this achieved with a small chimney straddling the ridge? I’m not dismissing what’s been said but I’ve had it out with a very argumentative clerk of works. Opinions??
