I have just tried my iphone charger in the washing machine socket and this works fine , there are no signs of water leaks where the washing machine was.

yes it was switched on at the wall but switched off at the machine and not in use when it blew. I really wasnt sure if it was the socket or the washing machine that had caused it to blow. I will try a washing machine repair man. thanks for your help.
