Floor insulation - AIRTEC foil gap

Thanks. I think keeping it flush we the the joints is best. I have some spare rock wool which I might fill the 20mm gap between the PIR board and the breathable membrane. Probably a bit pointless, but every little helps I guess.

Floor insulation - AIRTEC foil gap

Hi, I need to insulate under my suspended floor and thinking of doing the following: Breathable membrane stapled to underside of joists to prevent wind wash 100mm PIR board. Gaps sealed with foam/tape Over the joists/PIR, YBS AIRTEC REFLECTIVE double foil as (admittedly expensive) vapour...

Euro mini alarm - faulty sensor

Thanks I've ordered a door contact. Will the voltage to the sensors be no more than 12V. I'm thinking it should be considering the system can run off a battery backup?

Euro mini alarm - faulty sensor

It just says: Active defaults, front door. Then gives me the set areas option ! This is immediately after putting in 1234. In the managers settings there is an option to change the engineers code. According to the instructions this gives the opportunity to change the access permissions? Any...

Euro mini alarm - faulty sensor

Thanks for your help guys. Yes engineer access using 1234 which brings up Active defaults, front door. Then gives me a set areas option. I select yes for the zone causing issues and it says: unable to set front door. Then I hit yes and it goes back to main screen. No other options given under...

Euro mini alarm - faulty sensor

Thanks, yes usually that works. We can't clear this one - Active faults front door. When trying to set the alarm we get Unable to set front door. The door chime has stopped working so I think the sensor has failed or power to it. So I was wanting to change our zones so we can still use the alarm...

Euro mini alarm - faulty sensor

Hi, We have a faulty door sensor on our castle euro mini alarm - the alarm was triggered in the night to tell us! I have tried both the engineer and the system menu in an attempt to clear the fault and omit the door from our zones. None of them give me the option to change the input though...

    Exposed wires - downlight

It was my typo, I said the lamp was 50v, when it's 12v 50watts. All sorted now thanks for your help. These halogen lamps run incredibly hot, even after a minute or so. Can see why it can be a fire risk. I thought about switching to LEDs bulbs but apparently that might require a change to the...

    Exposed wires - downlight

Ok, so I've wired everything up (see photo) but that light is not coming on. There was two neutral and two live wires (left side of the box) which were difficult to securely fasten in, could one of these be a loose connection?

    Exposed wires - downlight

As you can tell I'm no spark I saw your comment about 10amp, but having read up some now I understand. The lights are 50v (6amp) so as you say, 10 amp should be fine. Thanks again for your help

    Exposed wires - downlight

I got into the loft, looks like it's just an issue with this light, the rest look ok. For some reason only this lights terminal had electrical tape on it, which has melted. Annoying l couldn't find an enclosed chocbox in b&q yesterday (only had 15amp ones left), wanted 30amp to be on safe side...

    Exposed wires - downlight

There's 4 of them. Renovating the bathroom in a couple of years. Will hold off replacing until then if I can.

    Exposed wires - downlight

Thanks for the replies. I see what you mean about other connectors - I found a chocbox in the garage but its only 10A so looks like its a trip to Screwfix! Should downlights be clear of all insulation or is a gap of a few cm ok? This was put in via previous owner (govt scheme) so presumably...

    Exposed wires - downlight

Finally got round to replacing a downlight in the bathroom! I noticed scorch marks on the bulb and on closer inspection it looks like there's exposed wires in the fitting which run in to a sticky blob that I presume is electrical tape. I can't get into the loft just now, but assuming I need to...

Single to Double RAD - Help please!

Thanks all for the help. Putting in a longer radiator would be ideal but unfortunately that's not possible. I will look at cutting the pipes back with end feeds. Thanks, Fozzy

Single to Double RAD - Help please!

I have done a search of the forum but couldn't find an definitive answer hence this post. I have an ancient single radiator (1600 width) that is providing insufficient heat for our hallway. I want to replace it for a double, however the depth of the single from the wall is 45mm and the double...
