    Air in heating syatem

Last night we set all the TRVs to max temp. This morning all the air noise was in just one upstairs rad instead of all three. Tonight we'll close that one down and see what happens. Must confess I find this quite interesting, a sort of detective story following clues to find who is guilty...

    Air in heating syatem

It had a full drain and flush. No changes except the TRVs fitted. I know it had a full can of inhibitor because I saw the empty can. There is one radiator in the utility room without a TRV, I think this had to be left for a bypass? I don't know whether the exchanger is alumininium.

    Air in heating syatem

It's definitely air. We read about the match test and tried it long ago. If there is water coming out the vent, how is air getting in?

    Air in heating syatem

No LEDs anywher except on the Drayton control box. The pump has a three position switch and it's on the lowest setting. Where is the air getting in? There are no water leaks anywhere. We don't want to run the heating 24/7. As an experiment tonight we will set all the thermo valves to max and...

    Air in heating syatem

The boiler is a Potterton Profile with no display. An external pump and a header tank in the loft. It worked perfectly since we moved in a few years ago. In September we had it serviced and had thermostats fitted on six radiators. Inhibitor was added to the water. Since then we have has this...

    Air in heating syatem

Ther are three rads up and three rads down. All had TRVs fitted. The pump is on the lowest setting. I have checked all for leaks. Will try adjusting the valves at the weekend. I really appreciate your advice. Thank you!

It's definietly just air. I'll try playing with the TRVs and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice!

    Air in heating syatem

It's an old non condensing boiler. Haven't seen any need to change it and the guy who fitted the thermostat valves said it was still working well. I don't want to replace it until it fails.

Yes. Many times but it just comes back. There are no visible water leaks.

    Air in heating syatem

Ever since we had thermostatic valves fitted to our radiators we get noise in the upstairs radiators that sounds like air being pumped around. This only happens first thing in the morning when they heat from cold. For the rest of the day it's all quiet. What's happening here? Should I get the...

    Privacy and indoor cameras?

One security consideration would be whether the camera records to a cloud server, which could be subject to hacking/monitoring. Ours records to a well hidden local NVR, which we can access remotely (and copy remotely) through suitable security measures.

Security camera - recommend one please

I reviewed one of those 'home to China' cameras, and checking with Wireshark it was astonishing how much data was going back and forth to China. It wasn't just the pictures, it seemed the PC's CPU was actually doing something else for them. As for 'opening up your router' it's only necessary to...

    Extending Cat5/Cat6

You don't need a coupler. You can buy a Cat6 extension cable that has a socket on one end. More reliable and takes less space. Choose the length you need. https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-11278-Ethernet-Extension-Connector/dp/B00QV0K2DI

    Drayton Control Replacement

Thank you for that link! It does suggest that the current Drayton are a direct replacement. I did read somewhere that a wiring change was needed. Just to be sure, I'll contact their tech support.
