What Sealant To Use On Plywood Before Laying Vinyl Tiles?

Hi, I am planning to lay vinyl tiles in the bathroom. I have plywood flooring to cut and lay but have read that using a PVA solution is the wrong thing to use to seal it but I cannot find any info on what is the correct product to use. Can anyone enlighten me? Would it come premixed in a tub...

    Bath Sealant...advice needed

Hi Saffy1......I used Unibond Anti-Mould Shower and Bath Sealant available at any good hardware store and around £10. A bit more expensive than some sealants but worth every penny. It's been around six months now and all is well so can highly recommend. Hope this is of help to you. :D

    Bath Sealant...advice needed

Many thanks to everyone for taking time to offer advice. I have now sealed around the bath for the sixth time! Thankfully this time, it looks like all is well. I think the problem was that I was using cheap sealant which might possibly be ok for around kitchen worktops etc but not for baths...

    Cooking grease on walls

Fair point Robbie but if you're cleaning with anything soapy, you would have to rinse off in the end. In fact, even with bicarbonate of soda or soda crystals, you would have a powdery residue if you didn't rinse off. I guess I should have stated that.

    Bath Sealant...advice needed

Can anyone give me any advice as I'm so frustrated. I have resealed around my bath five times now in the space of last two months. Each time, I have cleaned it carefully and reapplied the sealant and each time, it has cracked. I figured that I wasn't putting it on thick enough so last time I did...

    Cooking grease on walls

Two old-fashioned remedies and in my mind, the old ones are the best! Either use warm water with bicarbonate of soda or warm water and soda crystals. They both work brilliantly for grease and you could even add a small amount of washing up liquid to the mix for good measure. Good luck :)

Problem with wallpaper applied over existing wallpaper

This is another thank you to Growler for your advice. The PVA glue didn't work quite as well as expected as the paper started to come away from the wall again when I painted it so I took your advice and did every strip with Decorator's Caulk and it is fantastic. Took a lot of time and patience...

Problem with wallpaper applied over existing wallpaper

Help! Can anyone offer any advice? My house is going on the market soon and i'm decorating at the moment. My ex, in his wisdom, committed the cardinal sin and wallpapered over wallpaper. The original wallpaper is like a very very fine woodchip but I don't think it is. The wallpaper on top...

Is It Possible To Wallpaper Over Mirror Tiles?

I think they may be fixed with sticky pads and they are roughly 6 inch square tiles. I have tried to remove one and to be honest, thought it might be easier than it actually is as they move slightly if you press on them but I'm worried that that I may cut myself removing them. I was even...

Is It Possible To Wallpaper Over Mirror Tiles?

Hi, can anyone tell me if it is possible to wallpaper over mirror tiles? I'm sure I saw chunky blown vinyl wallpaper before just for this purpose but can't see it in shops now. I'm a bit wary of trying to remove them for the safety aspect. They are in an alcove and are seriously ugly. My...

    Repairing rust on enamel bath?

Thanks roughcaster for your speedy response. Have had a look at the other post but my problem is a bit more advanced than that and it'll take more than sanding down and touching up. The rust definitely needs treated but I'm interested in the tube of touch up enamel and wondering where I can...

    Repairing rust on enamel bath?

Can anyone offer any advice on repairing an approx 4 inch long rusted area on the outer rim of my white enamel bath? Replacing is not an option at the moment. I have aluminium epoxy putty to fill it with (is this suitable?) but not sure what to treat the rust with first. Would Hammerite...
