Dutch (external) split door too narrow for opening

Hi guys, We have an external split Dutch door that has seen better days. It measures 1970 x 840. We have seen a decent, affordable replacement, although it measures 1970 x 810. Would it be possible to fit this door in our opening? If so, should I add some timber to the existing frame on...

    Unusual ceiling light wiring

I have now tested the wires using a multimeter. I disconnected the old fitting, switched the power off and separated the wires to allow for safe testing. Switched the power back on and tested all wires. Tested between both blacks and earth and both reds and earth. All of the readings were...

    Unusual ceiling light wiring

Firstly, thanks for the prompt replies. Much appreciated! The light is on a hallway with several other lights, and yes, the light currently works. Do I need to consider one of the blacks being a switched live and terminating the two reds? Or simply connect red to brown, blue to black and the...

    Unusual ceiling light wiring

Hi guys, So far, I have managed to install 4 of my 6 ceiling lights with some research and great forum advice. I should point out at this stage that I do my homework and I would not be installing anything that I was not 100% sure about. In the 5th light fitting, I have come across an unusual...

    Ceiling light wiring issue

Hi guys, I am having a bit of a head scratcher while trying to fit a new ceiling light. I made a schoolboy error in not taking a photograph before disconnecting the old light. I know, I know. Anyway, there are two cables from the ceiling. As far as I am aware, the the two live (red)...
