    Battery query

I suspect that if Yuasa do make Halfords batteries, they are to a different spec. My thought process is that the handles and case moldings are totally different to the branded Yuasa batteries in the same store. In the past, I've done a "weight" test on batteries and generally speaking, if they...

    Battery query

I've used https://batterygroup.co.uk/ for the last few batteries I have bought and can't find anywhere to match them on price for brand name batteries. With regards to Halfords batteries, as mentioned by Freddismercurystwin they used to be very good, I think they were re-badge Lucas items. That...

    Tyre roadnoise

I bought a couple of alloys that are the same as mine, tyres were nearly bald but branded. I fitted them and the difference was night and day, instantly quiet. I'm not too bothered now I know it's just tyres so I put the (new) old ones back on. I think fitting wider tyres can make it quieter...

    Tyre roadnoise

Nexan tyres are very noisy, my car had a pair of these fitted to the front by the dealer I bought it from. When they eventually wear out, I'll bin them. I even spent time chasing what I thought was a noisy wheel bearing because of them. Rather oddly, one makes more noise than the other even...

Opinions on switching from gas boiler to electric

I'm confused, if you rent a flat, why do you need to pay for boiler cover? Surely the Landlord is responsible for repairs and servicing?

New born baby- heating on all night?

Your heating absolutely DOES NOT need the heating turned up for a baby. I speak from being a father who's child spent nearly a week in hospital, 2 days of which were in a coma from pirexia. My oldest boy was being looked after by his grandparents at the time and they wrapped him up warm and...

Bosch washing machine keeps spining with 1 minute displayed

I have a Bosch washing machine too, slightly different model but mine does that too...it carries on for 10 minutes or more with 1 minute remaining showing on the screen. I'm not sure if this just means the main cycle is over but the machine always does what it should if left to it's own devices....

    Removing a stripped(ish) hex c'sunk bolt

The plate that is held by the bolts, assuming it is not "keyed" by anything else, get a helper to rotate the entire plate as you try to loosen the screw. Hopefully rotating the plate and screw together will free it.....
