Festool planex 2 with CTL midi

Thanks for the feedback. That mirrors my experience of using the Midi, I need to use the filter cleaning function every 30 mins or so and I try to change the bag when half full if Im decorating using the rts400 and ets 150/5. Today I swapped the bag after a big-ish redec job and the bag was...

Festool planex 2 with CTL midi

Has anyone experience of using the planex 2 with a ctl midi for decorating? I’ve got the midi already and use it with a rts400 and ets 150/5 for decorating/ refurb jobs. I’ve got a log jam of work and am thinking about a planex to speed things up and make it physically easier. Does the midi...

    Thermostatic mixing valve issue

I don't know..... It came with a blanking plug (?) installed and a gauge. Couldn't find the gauge after install, so adjusted it until everything was working. Then found the gauge and CBA to isolate and an swap it with the blanking plug...... I assume it will be fine?!

    Which Makita multi tool?

Evening, I'm on the Makita 18v platform and want a cordless multi tool. Anyone any views on whether to get the DTM50, 51 or 52? Cant decide between going cheap with the DTM50 (£90) or the DTM52 (£175). Thanks.

    Thermostatic mixing valve issue

UPDATE: after reducing the cold main and getting the TMV working I fitted a PRV which seems to have solved the problem. I could leave the cold at full pressure and reduce the cold feed into the TMV so it worked properly. Everything works as it should. The cold was overpowering the hot feed...

Am I looking for the overall colour of the cylinder? The ones I’ve seen are usually white.

    Thermostatic mixing valve issue

The pipes are like spaghetti! Having looked at the layout it seems ok. It’s getting hot and cold feeds for sure so no incorrect pipe park that I can see. The cold pressure seems higher than usual. It might not be relevant but the boiler suddenly need topping up like there’s a leak. Could it...

    Thermostatic mixing valve issue

Thanks. Prompted by these posts I’ve been playing with the cold feed and it’s pretty high pressure so small changes seem to make a big difference. I’ve found a sweet spot whereby the TMV ‘seems’ to be doing its job. It kills the cold tap pressure though. Thinking I might install a PRV on...

    Thermostatic mixing valve issue

Not in isolation, they only work strangely when the kitchen tap is on. Should be a simple system but just isn’t working. It’s an old system so swapping out the valve should have sorted it. Yes I think so. Maybe could fit a prv but I would have thought throttling back the cold would have...

    Thermostatic mixing valve issue

I can’t see a check valve. No work other then swapping thr kitchen tap glands but there was this issue before. I did think the cold pressure might be overpowering the hot but I throttled the cold feed back and it did nothing until it was off and hot water came through the valve unmixed.

    Thermostatic mixing valve issue

Thanks. It’s a toolstation made 4 trade. I think the water is gravity fed. The bathroom hot tap and shower are cold BUT if I then turn the kitchen hot tap on all of them get warm, say 40 degrees which is what I expect.

    Thermostatic mixing valve issue

Thanks. The taps are all separate hot and cold. If I run the hot tap its cold. If I turn off the cold feed (via the stop tap) the water gets hot. Likely 50 degrees but I don’t have a temp gauge. Strangely if I run the hot tap normally (with the cold feed on) it’s cold but if I then also...

    Thermostatic mixing valve issue

Hi, Wasn’t getting hot water out of a hot tap where there’s a thermostatic mixing valve so assumed it had failed. Replaced it and still have an issue. I only get hot water when the cold tap is on as well as the hot, not just the hot. There are separate hot and cold taps, not a mixer. Help! Ta.

    Budget 2nd Fix Brad Nailers

I'm on Makita 18v, and has been said, their nail guns are mostly ignored and also expensive. Even the staple gun. I have a Ryobi 18ga gun and Hikoki framing nail gun. For second fix you might want 15 or 16ga depending on what you're doing. Ryobi nail guns are good, and I believe they pioneered...

Repair care or Ronseal two part wood filler?

I was going to router it out to stable timber then push on from there. I'm wondering that as the timber is very old, and presumably relatively stable, that the two-part route might be ok. Its hardwood too which I assume is less prone to movement?

Repair care or Ronseal two part wood filler?

Hi, I've a badly rotten window cill to repair and am looking at the Repair Care products. The product and primer is £85 whereas I have Ronseal wood hardener and two-part filler already. Is there a compelling reason to use the Repair care products? Ta.

Pick foam / shadow foam for toolboxes

Thanks for the suggestions, plenty of options. I like the cubed foam I think, and possibly a firmer foam but not that fussed about he firmness. It will get used for power tools.
