Dripping tap for 5 seconds after turning off

Hi all Kitchen mixer tap with 1/4 turn taps keeps dripping for 5-10 seconds after turning off the hot tap. I've replaced the tap cartridge and removed the spout and given it a good clean. The spout still drips but only on the hot tap. What could be the issue? As it's only the hot tap I...

Crumbling concrete - base of house

Hi I have created another thread about a loose paving slab: https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/loose-slap-on-step-into-house.479915/ whilst looking at this I have seen some crumbling concrete on the outside wall of the house at the bottom. It's not serious but might as well repair at the same...

Loose slap on step into house

Hi I have a loose slab on the step into the house which I need to fix. My thinking is to remove slap and chisel away existing mortar, then apply a sand and cement mix replace slab using mallets to line up with other slab. Would my approach be sufficient? What would I put in the gap between...

    Thermostat/Radiator conundrum

Yes, the thermostat is situated at the top of the stairs just outside the living room. The living room gets warm quite quickly and we never close the door so the heat from this room could be turning the thermostat off prematurely. I'll try turning the thermostat up and then controlling the rads...

    Thermostat/Radiator conundrum

I could, seems wrong to have the thermostat any higher than 21... although that would be the easier solution.

    Thermostat/Radiator conundrum

I'll most likely try moving the thermostat to the downstairs hall where the radiator is with no TRV. I'll make sure it's not on top of it or directly opposite the radiator. Having never lived in an upside down house before I didn't realise how much heat went from downstairs to upstairs. I...

    Thermostat/Radiator conundrum

Thanks for the replies. The thermostat is wireless so I just need to unscrew from the wall and experiment I guess. There is a radiator in the hall with no TRV.

Hi all I live in a 2 storey semi detached upside down house. The thermostat is situated at the top of the stairs on the landing. The boiler is a 24kw combi. When the thermostats reaches temperature the downstairs main bedroom remains a little chilly despite the radiator on 5 and also the...

    Asbestos?

I am leaning towards leaving it. The loft is boarded in the middle however and we do store stuff up there. Would it only be dangerous if moved and broken up etc?

    Asbestos?

Thanks for the reply. They're not in the way really buy I was concerned as one has been broken. Removal would be an issue as they are ridiculously heavy. I am guessing that is why they weren't removed in the first place! Property was built in 79 so I am surprised to find them up there.

    Asbestos?

Hi all I bought a house last year and have found 2 very heavy discarded pipes in the loft. I concerned they could be cement asbestos. What do you guys think?

    Soffit Vents

Hi all I have just discovered that when the property was built no vents appear to have been put into the soffits. The loft has recently been boarded so I need to ensure there is adequate ventilation in that area. There are 2 roof vents installed but this isn't sufficient. I am concerned...

    Cavity Wall Insulation

Thanks for the replies. The walls have the appropriate space. Unfortunately BG don't do the beads so looks like a no go for now.

    Cavity Wall Insulation

Hi I arranged for BG to come round and inspect the property to see if I would be eligible for free cavity wall insulation. The guy came round and said it wouldn't be possible as the property has rake brick work which has an increased risk of water ingress. I know nothing about brickwork and...
