    Backerboard/tanking/dot and dab wall

Hi all. So I'm about to start re-tilling my bathroom. I have a section of wall where the 1700x800mm shower is going that is MR board that I want to either board over or replace with some form of backer board. Be it cement or the foam board ones. But one wall of the shower (the 800mm side) is...

Shower waste trap and P bend

So I went out today and bought 50mm just to be safe. Do you think I should whack an AAV on that line too or do you think the 50 will be ok? I also bought sweeping bends instead of the 45s

Shower waste trap and P bend

Just thinking... even if I did the whole shower pipe in 50mm pipe, would it actually make any difference as the shower trap outlet is only 40mm? Would it still be better than running 40mm pipe?

Shower waste trap and P bend

So... another day on it. I reconfigured the boss and the toilet stack. Cut a load of floorboards and got into some tight spaces to take the stack apart to re do it a different way. Had to de-braise that copper pipe in the pic and move it the other side as it was in the way. I now plan on going...

Shower waste trap and P bend

Thank you. I'll do some workings tomorrow and get that falling straight after the trap. Ok so the shower head is a 300x300 square rainfall style with a 1/2" fitting (no output rating on website) The mixer unit doesn't have anything other than minimum and maximum pressure (0.5-5 bar) but has...

Shower waste trap and P bend

Ok so been on the calculator. I think I can move the original joining elbow and boss down a little add 90mm to the overall fall. I've done a sketch if you wouldn't mind double checking my theory and workings out. I think I should be able to get 64mm/m. The overall difference in heights...

Shower waste trap and P bend

Ok so in an attempt to keep the run length down and thus achieving a better fall ratio, I'm now considering cutting across diagonally across the joists. This will also avoid having to move copper pipes further along that first joist void. I have two potentially routes (depending if I can get...

    Sewer pipe air vent question

I've actually just seen this on the Flomaster website... If I can fit an AAV around 2-300mm above the soil pipe I don't need to bend it back towards the corner. Does this sound right? I'm sure 800mm was mentioned before.

Shower waste trap and P bend

ahh ok. I'll leave that idea alone then. Yes all the new waste I bought was Aquaflow but the soil pipe and boss that is on there is Flomaster. I checked the boss adapter and does feel pretty snug but I did try some old flomaster fittings on the Aqua pipe and as you say there is definately a...

Shower waste trap and P bend

Brilliant thank you. As you can see I've not got too much space to play with and would be a LOT easier to use a strap-on. Orrrr... do you think it's worth replacing this upward elbow... With one of these (obviously the sweep going up ready to connect to the toilet above) And then one of...

Shower waste trap and P bend

This is probably what I will do then. I'm off work Wednesday so going to measure and work out how much fall I can get away with. What are your thoughts on the strap on vs solvent weld bosses? (I know the strap on's are SW also but you know the other one I mean, the big ones with 3 potential...

Shower waste trap and P bend

Ohhhhhh yeah. That's a good point. I suppose because the head height of the bath and the basin will be above the shower tray it will find its level somewhere in the middle = all over the floor and carpet. That's a good point. So do you think drawing 1 would be better?

Shower waste trap and P bend

Ok so image 1 is what I put in for the upstairs toilet. I fitted a boss to run the upstairs services too. However it is only in the middle of the joists. Image 2 is another position further along (2.5cm lower than the first, but also a bit further along so will need extra drop to get to) the...

Shower waste trap and P bend

Right. I think I'll be able to get a bigger fall if I run it that way. I'll have a look tonight. Hopefully no more water pipes need to be moved. Thanks for the help. Would you mind if I uploaded a picture of what I was thinking in relation to the boss setup when I get the chance to take it?

Shower waste trap and P bend

So would this be better if I can achieve it? I'm thinking 40mm from the utilities downwards and then the horizontal pipe going into the boss being 50mm. Would that work? This way the holes in the joists will be further from the edge of the house which I'd prefer.

Shower waste trap and P bend

Read this about ten times to try and digest it. So annoying when you think you have a plan and then find out it's wrong. Or at least can be done better. lol. So this is a rough diagram of the setup with my original plan. The red lines are the joists (which can and do have holes in) I will...

Shower waste trap and P bend

Had an absolute nightmare with it all yesterday. Was gonna spend the day running the waste pipes and then found I had two 22mm radiator pipes hinder the correct fall so had to cut out and make a workaround. Then realised I still weren't going to get the fall I needed with where I put the boss...

Ahhhh yes that's it. They have removable hair traps AND rubber gaskets. Must be those then.

This is the link to the tray. https://www.bathroommountain.co.uk/tokyo-rectangular-matt-black-slate-texture-stone-shower-tray-1700x800mm-c48133 It does mention 'trap' in the description and the red circled bit is kind of a tray that slots in, and then another part slots into that which...
