    Driving in France

We have a crit'air sticker on our UK car as we go to France often and go through the cities that require it. It's very simple to sort out but has to be done ahead of time and stays with the vehicle.

    Tv doesn’t tune. No channels

There is usually a signal strength and, more importantly, a signal quality meter in the tuning pages of tv's. Though very rudimentary compared to an installers meter.

    Choosing wireless Microphones (Ed.)

Cheap wireless mics tend to be rubbish and easily broken. If you can't afford the big names of Sennheiser or Shure I wouldn't bother. Get a wired mic I.e the ubiquitous Shure SM58, and a cable. It will work, be simple to use, doesn't require batteries, won't pick up random RF and won't need...

    Here come the excuses

Is it a surprise that the Conservative government has screwed up this country by mishandling everything. As others have said, winning the election is a poisoned chalice considering the mess created by incompetent and corrupt tories.

    Conservative vote winner?

Why would the UK haters not be happy that they may have to fight some 17 to 18 year old kids who have no interest in being in the armed forces. Surely they would be happy with that.

central heating from a log burner

I do hope that David icke and Alex Jones aren't your only sources. I know you will say that the NWO have silenced them but I've been following these theories since they first appeared and nothing I've seen gives them credence. They rely on book sales and appearance fees, with info wars also...

    Spur plug socket fault.

It would prove no 230v was present. You could take a wander lead to it from the MET? Either way if it helps satisfy your your pedantic way, it was just a thought and I am sure you are absolutely correct in your observation. Cheers

    Spur plug socket fault.

It was more a response to the fact that he didn't seem confident in the results. As in the non contact tester showed potential on live neutral and earth, which is odd, even though the martindale showed no voltage.

    Spur plug socket fault.

Probably non contact tester was showing a capacitance voltage? A proper 2 pole tester, or a known working lamp plugged in to test for 230v would be better. You sure it is a spur, could be the end of a radial? Do you know where its mcb is in the consumer unit?

Old Ideal Mexico Floor Standing Boiler - any info

Not me. My oil boiler must be 30 years old. It just keeps on going. The Company that service it agree that it is best to keep it as there is so little to go wrong with it.

Did you see my answer from the other post you made?

fit a light using existing wiring from cooker hood

Sounds like it is a ring final with the appliance cable removed and you are left with the 2 legs of the ring. Post pictures of it and the consumer unit.

    "Equal" pay rant!

I use them as fillers and it is my std. Rate, as you say, certainly not a pay cut for it.

    "Equal" pay rant!

East Anglia, but mainly london/ Europe jobs. So I get it from finally having time to read the whole thing, you are an a1 and she would be something like a3 or a4, but wants to charge a1 rates. Yep, she is in for a shock.

    "Equal" pay rant!

Yes if you are doing the same job. If you are using your experience and providing more at the request of the client you should charge more. I work in the same industry as you and for over twice as long as you, should I charge double your rate? If you ask me to stack and blend multiple...

    "Equal" pay rant!

Did you mention that before, maybe I missed it. No PO then? You recommended her as an apprentice, so is it actually an apprenticeship or some made up position to pay less. Of not, then she is just another freelancer and should be paid the same.

    "Equal" pay rant!

    Obviously they were not unrealistic.

    "Equal" pay rant!

You are a freelancer. Truthfully you are a self employed sub contractor in the eyes of the law. That means you are a business. Stop talking about wages. You charge for your services and it is your choice what you charge in the same way as it is hers. If you go for the average then so be it...
