How to service Grant Vortex 36e, 36Kw keroscene combi boiler

You could find out what the exact composition of the metal is from Grant, likely a form of stainless, and ask someone to weld a stainless patch over it for you. As long as it's a good weld, using stainless wire, it should be good to go. Just ideas to try and help you get it moving

How to service Grant Vortex 36e, 36Kw keroscene combi boiler

I really appreciate the reply, which is straight forward and to the point. I used to repair highly complex high kV and noxious gas equipment when working in the industrial lab as a scientist. So all I was looking for here was straight forward pointers, exactly as you have given. Why not ask...

Banding on kitchen cabinet water damaged

Def not ply. It's printed banding that looks like ply. It is a very good look a like. I've tried to get a better picture for some reason can't get much better than that. I suspect it is a bit crumbly, the black bit behind the banding. My idea is, once bone dry, mix some wood glue and pine saw...

Banding on kitchen cabinet water damaged

I discovered a leaking pipe inside a kitchen cabinet. Unfortunately a bit of damage already done. The edge banding of the MDF has curled away leaving an unsightly gap. Will a warm iron after applying some glue into the gap fix this? How would you fix this.

Can flowmaster cistern filler valve seal be replaced?

Our flowmaster cistern filler identical to this one has a failing closing valve. It's not stopping the mains water flow when the float rises up to the top. Can the valve seal be replaced?

Nicked a plastic central heating pipe with the grinder

I nicked a plastic central heating pipe with the grinder. I'm surprised its not leaking. Quite deep, actually amazed its not leaking. Is there something, a glue or epoxy I can coat round it that will make it good as new, something like a putty?

Should I install half round, or deep "egg" gutters ?

I am re-doing facias and soffits, which means new gutters. Currently fitted are half round gutters but deep egg gutters have been suggested for the new install. No one seems to need the run off capacity of deep egg gutters(?), so why do they exist. Installers seem to recommend "deep flow"...

Thank you. I've usued one of those before but didn't think of it. Probarly because I can feel, just about but not quite reach, chuckies/ stones down there, which I am not sure it would shift. I'll try that if all else fails when the weather improves.

Drain rodding round 90 degree bend

Thank you. Very useful link. I can't quite get my hand down the drain for long enough, in this weather, to try and work figure out the type. It's just too cold. Water sitting in there, quite far down, could be becasue it is a p-trap, or just becasue it sits that high with the blockage...

I have a down pipe from the gutter, that goes down the side of the house and goes into a ground drain. Diagram below. I can get my arm all the way down to the blockage and have completely cleared that far, but can't reach round the 90 degree bend, shown, to get to the rest of the blockage. I...

    Euro6 compliance

I have a 2013 VW golf 1.6 TDi. It is not Euro6 emissions compliant. I wish to bring it up to Euro 6. I have had a look around and it seems there are no conversion kits. This is an emissions issue for filtering the exaust particulate as I understand things. How do you build an exaust filter to...

Condensdate from boiler, can it go in after the trap?

"Running the pipe like this Neutralises the acidic water" - do you mean it mixes with the sink water above the sink trap and therefore neutralises the acid as it runs off? or meaning something else ... As the condensate pipe currently runs it may not be possible to lift the pipe up as it runs...

Condensdate from boiler, can it go in after the trap?

That's a great solution. That's what we will do. I'm guessing the valved tundish will allow the end of the condensate pipe to breathe so that there is not a potential air lock between the tundish and the condensate trap in the boiler, ie works just like an open tundish but stops waste...
