Crazy forum software behaviour?

In this case it was purely down to the number of times the character was used. Upper case and lower case were not individually the issue. Without too much detail, if various words / characters from certain character sets are used in sufficient frequency then that among other things can trip a...

    Crazy forum software behaviour?

I have found the cause of the issue, just working on a solution to stop it from happening in the future.

    Crazy forum software behaviour?

There have been no recent changes in that area of the software recently, but I will investigate.

Automatically turning YouTube links into embedded

I agree that the loss of the t - start time variable is unfortunate. This will be addressed in a forthcoming update.

Informative information removed from posts on this forum ...a big mistake.

I'm not sure what you mean, can you elaborate? Maybe screenshot? No changes have been made recently that would change what you see in regards to thanks/views.

Is there a Diynot Android App?

There was, but it is no longer available. Similarly to the iOS app it only had very basic functionality. A coming update to the forum will improve mobile performance on the website further and provide the potential to install the site as a progressive web app as an alternative to a native app.

    Full page popup adverts

Quick update; this ad behaviour now been disabled and should stop occurring within the next 30mins, hopefully much sooner. Apologies for this hiccup.

    Full page popup adverts

I've just checked and I have experienced this as well (if not logged in). This shouldn't be happening, so thanks for reporting I will look into what's gone wrong.

    Advert overload.

We have never had pop up ads, logged in or not. The only change since the new year was a trial of ads between pages for users not logged in (limited to being shown once/hour).

    Advert overload.

I agree that's not acceptable. The current in-between page ads have now been turned off for all.

    Advert overload.

It's best to remain logged in if possible. Unfortunately with the amount of 'non-logged' in traffic and the associated server/infrastructure costs it wouldn't be viable to run a similar level of ads for guests as members, especially as these ads help subsidise the costs of logged in traffic...

    Advert overload.

Glad to hear it, for users logged in there has been no change to the ad positions / increase of slots / inter-page ads using any device (mobile, desktop or tablet).

    Advert overload.

Many less adverts are shown to users who are logged in, and no extra adverts have been added for literally years, specifically to make the user experience better for members. There are more & different ads for guests (users not logged in) and these do change from time to time. The full page...

    Server iffy ??

We had some database issues yesterday (and overnight) unrelated to the Google incident, which meant the database wasn't running at full steam and intermittently slowed down, but hopefully we're back to normal today.

Access the Thread from Media photo

Regrettably that is not easily achieved at the moment. Currently you have to look at the profile of the user who uploaded the image and find the post they made that included the image. An upcoming update to the forum will add this feature.

Links not pointing to correct item

I looked into the issue and it was Amazon.com trying to redirect you to a similar product on Amazon.co.uk, which as you have already seen was not in anyway similar! This should now be rectified.

    Links to screwfix

Unfortunately we were directed by Screwfix to suspend links due to the pandemic, because of the changes they've had to make to the way they operate and demand levels, safety of staff etc. As soon as we get word from them links will go back to normal.
