    Repairing Mixer Shower Tap Handle

Any other screws around the back section? If not, then two thin blades/narrow scrapers into the slot on opposite sides, (one at the top, one at the bottom). may help to get it started. Once it starts it may become easie, but don't rush itby going at it like a bull in a china shop. Patience is...

    Repairing Mixer Shower Tap Handle

Yes, it probably will do. Check the toothed wheels inside both parts to see if they are damaged. Give them a good clean, (possibly gunked up with soapy scum), and re-fit by pushing fully home. Test to see if drip stops before locking grub screw back up. If the teeth are damaged you may be able...

    Repairing Mixer Shower Tap Handle

You should be able to prise off the end cap, (to the left of the lever, though often quite a good fit and hard to see the join), inside which there is usually a screw that simply needs nipping up. Inside there will probably be a toothed wheel which sits inside a stationary toothed wheel. Sounds...

    Annoying Driving Habits...

Not sure what the 'lega' position is regarding being prosecuted for these types of things, (I suppose being private property the police wouldn't do anything), but if there was an accident the insurance battle would be a nightmare. As my wife found out to her cost many years ago. Icy morning and...

What have you been doing today?

Garden in our new home showing before and after clearance. And the full length from the patio. We found some crap under all that lot! An old broken trailer, car tyres and wheels and about a dozen beer kegs, just to name a few!

What have you been doing today?

In our last house we had an electric cable running across the bottom of the garden at tree top height. The wood pigeons would sit on it and just $hit in a long line across the lawn. It was disgusting! I got one of those bird scarer hawks, and it worked quite well for a few months, till they...

What have you been doing today?

Sat in a hospital chair for over 4 hours while getting pumped with various medications by way of drips. Start off first drip with a flush, then get one of the meds, then a flush before another med, then a flush et al. All in all, seven drips consisting of 4 flushes and three meds. Each stage...

    Will For King?

Harry isn't even in the running. He no longer undertakes any royal duties/engagements and William has a few children who are next in line if he does take over and something happens to him. If the children are too young to take up the position then a council of members, (or some such council)...

Ideas for DIY alteration to aluminium cassette

Do you want to bend it back or cut it off? To cut it off, an angle grinder is your best option. Failing that, a standard hacksaw. If you can get away with bending it back out of the way, I would suggest a pair of mole grips to get a good purchase on it and simply work your way along it, bending...

Screwfix no nonsense trade bare plaster paint vs Fortress Trade matt emulsion bare plaster paint

I bought a 5litre tin of No Nonsense from SF just over a week ago in Ipswich. Decorator swears by it.

Can someone suggest a spanner or wrench for this tight space for sink waste pipe

Wear a pair of rubber/silicone kitchen gloves to get a good grip and, as @Madrab says, it should only be hand tight.

New Zealand: using two cables joined together

This is a UK site. You would need to ask this on a NZ site where the regs may be quite different.

    What have you bought today?

Used to have a King Charles that would hump anything in sight. Came down one morning and found my daughters favourite teddy bear literally dripping! Into bin bag and then outside bin before she came down for breakfast. Can't remember how we explained its loss to her.

    No permission.

They saw all that money and thought, "We can have a slice of that." So much of what he raised has simply been wasted, (stolen/fiddled/embezzled, call it what you want), for their own personal benefit. I think they should be ordered to pay back at least a large chunk of it to the charity...

    Outside Light

The PIR's will only operate when there is sufficient lack of light to activate them. If you are trying to test them in daylight, or even twilight, they will not function unless you cover the sensors with something dark to fool them it's night time.

    Metal concrete anchor problem.

If you can get a drill that is fractionally bigger than the bolt tube, you may be able to 'skin' it out. Use a drill that's too big and you will have to use bigger bolts which may not go through the base plate. The bottom of the hole could be raised by slowly pouring dry sand in until it reaches...

    Is this oven dangerous?

Although the slot is 'rounded off' on the front surface, those slots are actually pressed out on a big press during manufacture. This will often result in a sharp edge on the unseen side of the slot. As above, it is a safety issue in its present state, bt can easily be repaired with some heat...
