    Thanks for the replies but there doesn't seem to be anything 100% suitable. I wanted something you could sand and paint to get a seemless finish. Be easiest to replace the broken cladding rather than repair

    Perfect thanks :) Is it hard to come by straight plywood? Guessing a sheet with even a slight warp would cause problems?

    Not on a nail ;) While the top is certainly magnetic the underside is more concrete looking (pic) and very weakly magnetic
