Multi fuel stove smell making it unusable :(

Thanks all for your advice. I've kept a low fire going every night since I posted. The smell only seems to be there whenever I put in a heat log, so I'm sticking to coal which doesn't produce big flame. Hopefully that'll sort it out.

Multi fuel stove smell making it unusable :(

Hi there, following a chimney fire 3 years ago in our new house, we got a new stove installed and the flue lined etc. However, the new stove - Morso - has an acrid smell each time we put it on. The smell really catches our breath and stings the eyes, so each time we chance putting it on, we have...

    SKY back to aerial

Hi there, my Dad (who lives in Ireland) had a sky box installed years ago and cancelled a month ago as it was getting too pricey. Dad wants to connect a free view box now but the fascia plate on the wall is for sky aerial connection only (in Ireland when you cancel sky most of the channels on...

Hi Guys, after much grumbling, the tiler completed the job, took him just over an hour. We'll clean and reseal the whole floor, but the grout is dry now (not above) and its as if they were always there! Thanks for all of your advice.

    bridge the gap!

Hi there, Tray was fitted before wall tiles, so tiles do come down onto the rim. The trap has been connected underneath. If I take up tray now the wall tiles that have been done may be damaged. I'll keep you posted on the outcome. Thanks for the pointers.

    bridge the gap!

In answer to all your advice: The tray us already glued down- at the time the guy from the bathroom shop said "the tiler will be able to sort out that gap no problem" The tray is a 900 quad. I'm paying the bathroom shop, the tiler works for them but is self employed and is their only tiler so I...

    bridge the gap!

Thanks Guys, My initial thought was the same as you Tigercubrider and alec_t, but the tiler doesn't want to cut back, he says it'll loosen the existing mosaics. I had suggested putting different mosaics or cutting a strip of larger tile at a curve o fit in after putting down a sliver of ply...

    bridge the gap!

Hi there, we're getting the bathroom sorted following a leak and have replaced the shower tray. Unfortunately the previous shower tray was a different shape and we now have a gap between the shower tray and the floor tiles. The tiler has scratched his head for a solution, we cannot get a match...

Hi there, We have a two story house with its own sewerage system. we've noticed the water level in two of our three toilets has been either low, or when flushed rises up and is slow to go down. loft flooring advice

Hi, i only want to floor a 'path' in our attic down to the MEV air unit that we have for maintenance. Our attic is very low and cramped and engineers are reluctant (fair enough) to service our machine if there is no floor. So, if i only want a path, can i put loft chipboard panels directly onto...

carpentry query about bathroom re-fit and wood

Richard, i didn't mean to 'demand' anything, was worked up about it, wrong terminology to use, apologies to any tradesmen out there. In the up shot, i asked nicely for the ply to be removed, the stud frame behind the ply is completely rotten so the job will be slightly bigger than expected...

    Mouldy Shower Cubicle

'Astonish' for mould and mildew- you get it in 'Home Bargains' type shops. Spray it on , leave it for a while and then rinse. Mightn't get rid of all, but i find it good.

carpentry query about bathroom re-fit and wood

Hi there. Some advice please, we are having our bathroom and en-suite refitted and the guys who are completing the work have stripped out the rooms. My question is, i'm not sure that they have any intentions of removing the ply-board in the pictures which to my untrained eye looks rotten - the...
