Burner engineer came and looked at the burner, nothing gone in it, he put the phial up onto the burner above the motor off the floor. If the fire valve should be outside, why would it be inside?? - what bit is the fire valve by the way??

Needle dropping on pressurised CH system

Craig51 it's oil fired ch. It's a zoned ch system where the water is constantly hot. I haven't had the central heating on in several months, no need. The system was really pressurised about 6 weeks ago and is very slowly dropping.

Needle dropping on pressurised CH system

Hi all, thanks for reading this. We wanted to refurbish the bathrooms and got a few bathroom guys out to quote - one checked our boiler room (oil burner is inside house beside water storage/valves/pressurized system) and said our pressure appeared to have dropped and therefore we must have a...

    Cracked Chimney flue

We had a chimney fire and the insurance company is dealing with it. Cctv showed a cracked flue just at the turn and the grouting/cement joins between stacks are quite wide. Their solution is to put flexi liner in the chimney and replace our stove. The guy delivering the new stove has got me...

    Gutter/roofing issue

Hi there, our recently purchased house (roughly 9 years old) has issues with the guttering! Please see attached photos. I had a gutter guy out and he said there was no problem with the gutters, in fairness it was a dry day and i didn't have photos to show him. We've cleaned out the...

Hi there, the chimney in our recently purchased house went on fire the other night! Drama. All good, but the fire service had to put the stove outside and remove the connecting pipes in order to get access to the chimney to put out the fire. They broke the fire board to get to the...

    Zoned central heating

Ended up having a leak in a totally unrelated issue, so the plumber who came out said my system keeps the temp of the hot water cylinder at 60/50 or whatever you set it St and therefore may be more efficient instead of letting the tank get cold and then having to heat it up when needed??? Could...
