    Chrome, hep and compression

Evening all, hope this finds you all well. Hopefully simple for you guys...... I have a length of 15mm chrome plated copper pipe. 300mm long. One end will have a hep20 push fitting, the other will have a compression penny valve. Do I need to take the chrome off..... both ends, one end or not at...

    Can I move my stopcock?

A very good point, and I have quite a bit of armaflex 22mm lagging i can wrap around it. It's going from the utility room into the garage without going outside so I'm hoping it won't be any more at risk than it was before. I'll knock the surestop on the head then. It will actually be quite an...

    Can I move my stopcock?

Hello pal, many thanks for the reply! Excellent news then I can move the sod. The surestop I've read can be a bit troublesome, and at £50 If I don't really need one I might not bother. It was more an opinion as to wether people think i need to be able to turn the stopcock off from the house or...

Multiple led recessed lights to rose

This is taken from the wago site, and again, I might be misreading this but it seemed to me that 60670 and 5733 go hand in hand but are separate. So in summary, for a maintenance-free installation you require: Screwless terminals that are suitable for the type and size of conductor you are...

Multiple led recessed lights to rose

Sorry John I misread your post!!! Doh! Yes, unless they have been tested from my understanding they are not given 5733 compliance status..... as BAS said. But they are built to the specs from what I can see/read. But they can be given 60670 as the box clearly conforms to that reg. Again, I...

Multiple led recessed lights to rose

Hi ya John, I might be misreading it John, but from what I can ascertain BS 60670-22 is the applicable standard for junction boxes and BS 5733 is the applicable standard for accessories. So for instance the wago box is 60670. It is only a true MF box if used with the wago connectors which are...

It can from what I...

Multiple led recessed lights to rose

Who said anything about it being MF? As per lots of threads on here, everyone's interpretation is different of what exactly is accessible and therefore does it need to be MF. No idea what the OPs situation is. But yes, agreed, i don't think it's 5733 compliant. Although from what I can see it...

Multiple led recessed lights to rose

This is a really simple way to do it if you have access to hide this in a void somewhere..... https://www.screwfix.com/p/surewire-sw7m-mf-16a-7-way-pre-wired-junction-box-white/4413j

    Can I move my stopcock?

Hi guys. Hopefully a few easy questions for you...... 1) can I move my stopcock from the house to the garage? The stopcock is in the corner of the utility room presently and the garage is joined to the side of this room. I can take the mdpe pipe under the floorboards and out along the garage...

It took me a while to realise, but most of the back of the CU is missing. Perhaps it's secured somewhere else.

A little help with window protection......

That's a very kind offer! Wouldn't half help! Should I drop a list on here or drop you a PM? Thank you so much. I'd be lost without this forum. Lol. Alex

A little help with window protection......

Yes that's exactly it, with one set of doors you have to open one before you can open the other which is why I'd figured I could perhaps just arm that one first opening door. The other double doors we have at the back have independant doors so ill have to have 2 contacts for them. I guess at...

A little help with window protection......

I see what you're saying. I guess that's the benefit of wireless isn't it, fitting extra is minutes work. Think I need to do a smidge more reading then on the ricochet sensors. On a slightly different tac..... double upvc doors..... do they need only one contact fitting (Top or bottom) on the...

A little help with window protection......

Indeed. There's definitely good and bad out there, it's just finding the good that's the issue. We've never had an alarm on our houses, so I've never had to find an installer or have any work done on them, so I figured as we we're in a mess on the house now's as good a time as any for me to put...

A little help with window protection......

Ok, so the texecom 48 will be on the list, it's hardly much extra so as you say, could make expansion easier later on. :) The dog we don't have yet, but will be a Labrador (it needs a home having not quite passed it's exams) and we will give it free run of the downstairs. Now the trouble with...

A little help with window protection......

Hello buddy, thanks for the reply :) Ok so the alarm.... don't have one at the minute. I'm thinking the Texecom premier elite 24 (metal) at the moment but I'm also open to ideas on that too. I was going for wired, mainly because it seems it's a much more stable system, and I have 80% of the...

    Window Tinting

Front sides are 70% and if you've had the rears done in an average dark tint (35% say) your front windows will show up to dark with pretty much any tint on em. Most people go very dark on the rear screen which males everything darker inside as well.

    Window Tinting

It is illegal to have the front windows tinted, so unless you plan on sitting in the back I'm not sure it's going to help you too much :(
