A little help with window protection......

Hello all. Ok, been struggling with this for a good few weeks now. I've read so much stuff about this, but there is such a lot of conflicting advice I'm hoping you guys can put this to bed for me. I've got 2 windows in my lounge (pic below) that I'm trying to decide how to alarm. The easiest...

    Extend circuit in garage

If you are having the garden landscaped, why not take the opportunity to put either trunking in for cable, or run some new SWA to the garage? None of it will cost much, and if the garden is going to be dug up etc now is the time to future proof it.

Terminal Block (What one to use)

Standard 'socket' ones are 1.5" by 1.5" John, and they do a slightly smaller 'lighting' one thats 1.5" x 1" :) Could be a bit fiddly though depending how many wires he is connecting. Did 2 today and with 4mm cable it was a bit of a pain lol

Terminal Block (What one to use)

The wagobox and connectors might work? There are a few sizes to choose from. https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/WAGOBOX.html

Glass shock sensor on which bit?

Totally agree. They make installation bloody easy and quick though! Cheaper too. The cost of shock sensors are a bit prohibitive.... downstairs I need 9 and then 4 shock/door sensors. Starts getting a bit expensive, and we live in a really low crime rate area and have 6 houses around us that...

Glass shock sensor on which bit?

Because in a short while we will have a dog, and from what I understand, pet specific PIRs aren't very good. :)

Glass shock sensor on which bit?

Guys, has anyone used glass break sensors? Are they any good? Just been looking at the Honeywell ceiling one as just a point of reference, and the way the 2 sets of Windows are in my lounge it would cover both of them easy enough, and its quite cheap at circa £25. Would this work for me?

Glass shock sensor on which bit?

Ooof. Bugger me that's gonna get expensive then. 6 shock sensors to go across 2 windows..... ouch. :( Thankfully cabling is ok, I'm going to put some oval conduit into the wall as I'm doing quite a bit of chopping and changing throughout the house so that bits easy enough. I've got a roll of...

Glass shock sensor on which bit?

Hello all. Hopefully a nice easy one for you..... I've got 2 windows in my lounge. One is a bay type window with the two sides opening. The other is a flat, fixed, non opening window but made up of 3 parts. The pics below aren't of my windows but are basically the same. Now, how many shock...

    Pyronix, Galaxy and who else?

Thanks for the info pal. :) The PIRs would certainly speed up the installation as it means a small hole into the roof rather than channelling out walls, but as the house is a mess and there's dust everywhere, I guess now's the time to do the channelling. It will hopefully mean no false alarms...

If you want any more info with regards to return standards just ask. I also forgot the BIGGEST piece of advice I could give you. I'm sure you would be, but be polite, leave the inspector to get on with the job and go watch tv for half an hour and offer them a cup of tea. I promise you, it could...

    Car - Personal Lease

Can't offer any advice as regards to what is involved in getting rid and getting a new one after 3 years, but I can help a little with the return standards. Basically every inspector (if yours is inspected, not every car is, but the inspection numbers are increasing So I would say you are 80%...

    Pyronix, Galaxy and who else?

That makes perfect sense. As you say, upstairs is unlikely to be bothered as it's likely to be too much hassle to get to. There is one window at the top of the stairs that is above the garage which could be the only vulnerable one, so I'll have to protect that one. So Honeywell Viper range to...

    Pyronix, Galaxy and who else?

Haha brilliant. I have literally just been reading an old thread on the forum about cable and 8 core CQR screened cable was consistently mentioned, and as you say circa £25 for a role is bugger all. I'm starting to get the idea behind some of this now I think. Couple of extra questions if I...

    Pyronix, Galaxy and who else?

Morning :) Yeah chipboard flooring throughout. Absolutely pain in the ringpiece! But lots of it is up now, so how's a good time to run the cables. I haven't really got to decide which alarm to install right this second, I just need to know where to have the sensors and indeed which sensors so...

    Pyronix, Galaxy and who else?

Yes I do actually. One into the house, and one into the garden. Then a small roller shutter door that comes down in front of a sliding patio door at the back of the garage, and a motorised roller shutter door at the front of the garage. Does that all make some sense? Would pics help? Massively...

    Pyronix, Galaxy and who else?

The area being the area immediately around the panel, or the garage itself? Edit: scratch that, I see what you mean. It's basically a PIR type device that would pick up someone trying to tamper with the panel I guess. That could be done no worries. In fact, the garage could have extra PIR...
