Then there is the question of what is meant by this mythical 'signing off' process.

What fire rated downlights are you all fitting?

Not true, and no one cares about EPCs anyway, they are just a thing people are compelled to get when selling a house. They are also grossly inaccurate and only cover certain items that the software knows about.

What fire rated downlights are you all fitting?

Never noticed or cared. It's a metal plate with a hole, a glass disc, a couple of springs and a GU10 lamp holder. Warranty not required.

    Armoured cable sizing

Junction boxes and other connectors are sized on the cross sectional area of the individual conductors. The diameter of the outer covering of a cable is unrelated.

What fire rated downlights are you all fitting?

https://www.toolstation.com/integral-led-evofire-fire-rated-downlight-85mm/p58865 with whatever GU10 lamps are desired. Sealed affairs are a fail. Seen far too many from various manufacturers where they have failed after a year or two, exact replacements don't exist, manufacturers warranty...

    BT phone line/service 'upgrade'

They certainly did, as in a certain block of flats near here which has FTTP and those exact ONTs from when it was built around 7 years ago. However they have already been abandoned - the battery part still works if people can be bothered to put batteries in it, but when broadband service is...

    BT phone line/service 'upgrade'

Correct. There are no new copper PSTN services, they have been unavailable for over 2 years, the last orders for such things were in 2023. Those people that already have one and also have ADSL / VDSL or some other broadband product delivered over copper are already being migrated to VoIP...

    Two 2.5mmT&E to a garage?

An unusual choice but could still be compliant. A 32A circuit presumably? Nonsense. With thinking like that, nothing would ever be installed anywhere.

    Shepherds hut electrics

It won't be. iv - All the circuits will comply with disconnection times (if not then there are severe problems which no amount of supplementary bonding will fix) v - All the circuits have RCD protection (from the RCBOs) vi - It's a hut, extraneous parts not found unless for some inexplicable...

    12V spotlight for bathroom

Get a 230V AC one and dispose of the transformer. Vastly more selection available. 12V affairs are basically obsolete, being primarily designed for halogen lamps.

    Daikin ceiling aircon unit

Those are defrost mode, during which it will not provide any heat. If it's going into defrost mode all the time, the outdoor unit is either clogged with dirt or it's been located incorrectly, meaning it's in an area with walls on all 4 sides and a floor/surface below, which will trap cold air.

    TN-C-S or TN-S

C and D are both variations of TN. If someone really wanted an inverter or generator installation to be TT it would look like this but no real installation will be like that. Inverter / generator installs are almost always TN-S, with the N-E link internal to the generator or immediately...

Installing single gang in double knockout box

It's this: Drill 2 holes 42mm apart in the back of the existing box, fix bracket with screws/plugs. Careful measurement required to ensure bracket is level and centered both vertically and horizontally.

Double oven- what would be the best flex outlet/switch options

Exactly. It's the standard arrangement used in domestic kitchens everywhere for ever. 'Advice' from kitchen designers and vendors should be ignored.

Comando Socket for EV charging (In Scotland)

A 'granny lead' in the UK and most other countries refers to a cable with an AC plug on one end, a control box and a vehicle connector at the other. For the UK typically a 13A plug as shown, but can be other types such as the blue 16A or 32A versions. Other countries use plugs appropriate to...

Energy saving, advertising rubbish or what?

Double oven- what would be the best flex outlet/switch options

Oven / cooker outlets should be flush mounted. If surface, then you are unlikely to have enough space to fit the appliance in front of it. They all need a 35mm or deeper box due to the size of wiring used with them. Why? They will be switched off only for cleaning or maintenance. Neither of...

    TN-C-S or TN-S

That contains some elements of truth but like many things that can be 'read online somewhere' it's also full of fails. If a TN-C-S supply is used for some outbuilding, AND that outbuilding also has extraneous conductive parts such as a metal water pipe, then those parts require bonding to the...
