Blimey thats a mouthful! lol Its a newbuild (Bellway) 2001. Felt is on the ceiling of the attic. The rafters are not unsual. Like a W I guess. The insulation is that pink itchy stuff. Rockwool? Which is fitted between the joists and slightly above them when they are puffed out. I...

this is not what I want to hear :( Ok I will have to rip it all up then. What is the alternative? The loft acts as a good storage place. So has to be done properly. It took me 2 days. I don't know whether to cry or not

    HELP! Loft chipboard flooring rot..

Well why are they loft panels? They are specifically for the loft. Says on the package. How is my attic damp? Never had problems with these panels in my house a few years back. I think you will have to be more helpful than that :) Maybe I should take them back and get my money back then...

I moved into a newbuild (2001) 3 years ago and temporarily layed a few b and q 18mm chipboard panels (comes in pack of 3) just to hold a few boxes until I had sorted out rest of house. I must have layed about 10 across the joists and never returned until 3 yrs later finally decided to lay the...

    Back to wall toilet!!

Thanks for your replies. The combination unit is 600mm sink unit and 600mm w/c unit. 340mm deep. Unit height 800mm. The recessed plinth is 150mm high. I would say the hole to be cut, the middle of the hole would to clear the plinth and shelf would be 250mm. That would be the centre of the...

    Back to wall toilet!!

Having problems with finding BTW toilet where the pipe connection from the toilet is above the height of the plinth of the unit so it backs against the panel. A built in shelf under where the cistern will go is also in the way so when a whole is cut for the pipe to connect to soil pipe the hole...

    Vanity unit countertop fixing?

I have just realised.. How the heck can I secure my 1200mm long countertop to my beech 600mm units? I bought these block fittings to place evenly under the top and secure to the units. But once the top is on how do I reach the screws? So what fasteners can I buy to solve this? The units...

Skimming or tape jointing overboarded ceiling?

Thank you for your replies. I have self adhesive tape so I guess I will tape the joints and then get a plasterer in. As long as the job is done to a high standard I don't might paying 1/2 day.

Skimming or tape jointing overboarded ceiling?

I have a post here some place. Basically I have overboarded my bathroom ceiling which is quite small 2m x 2m. Because I have done it myself there are 3 places where I need to use joint compound and tape then sand down. My question is: Because of the small size of the ceiling isn't it better...

    Filling plasterboard ceiling?

I have reboarded my bathroom ceiling and now the joints are ready to be filled and taped. BUT!.. I went to close to one joint with a screw (to secure board to joist) and it broke under the board paper. I cut that section out with a stanley knife. About the diameter of a golf ball. What would...

    Overboarding existing bathroom plasterboard ceiling.

Thanks but I need to envisage these trims by looking at a photo of them in place. I have never ever seen these trims fitted between top of tiles and ceiling. Sounds like an easier objective of solving the problem. Cutting corners as they say

    Overboarding existing bathroom plasterboard ceiling.

My bathroom has been tiled floor to ceiling. I don't think my tiler did a perfect job. The house was built in 2001 so is a new build. The existing ceiling has had to be sanded down in some places because it was lumpy. That was the previous owner(s). The tile edges that meet the ceiling...

Preventing porcelain from chipping when cutting?

hmmm Richard I am beginning to think it might be cack. It wasn't cheap and bought it online. It says: Diamond wheel 'turbo cut' 150mm diamond impregnated cutting wheel. Also for premium results when cutting: Quarry, Slate, Marble, stone. Doesn't mention porcelain. But I gather...

Preventing porcelain from chipping when cutting?

I have a 600mm by 300mm porcelain tile that I have cut with a Plasplug electric tile cutter. It is the diamond wet wheel contract plus model. I had to buy a special disc to cut porcelain but it still left chips along the tile after cutting the bit I wanted off. I did it slowly and as straight...
