New slate choice for old slate roof

I've seen cement fibre slates fail in 12 years . There is the Glendyne alternative to Welsh and more economical . There are some decent Spanish too , as long as they are t1 s1,w1 then should be trouble free. Something like a cipa h12 are good and you can get a dite specific guarantee for up...

What is this capping on side of roof tiles and is it an issue that it's coming away?

The problem here is the verge was bedded the pointed in two different mortars . The verge should be pointed in the same mortar used to bed it . Done correctly it will outlive any dry verge

    Fibreglass roof bond

As above two tiles slipped leaving no head lap is a leak. Also the mortar that has been jammed here and there can dam water and cause a leak. Imo grp is for boats . To get the correct fall you'll need to adjust the gutter soles . You be better off getting a good felt flat roofer in the torch on...

    Missing mortar in chimney perps

Damp in ceiling of dormer - Conflicting advice

Fluff sandwiched between plasterboard and felt . Isn't correct . You should have at least a 50 mm air flow gap between the felt and insulation . Soffit or ofv should be there and some form of venting at high level depending on roof design . Curious as to which Marley tile is no longer made . Do...
