UPVC door won't lock when closed - URGENT help needed please

Have you tried locking the door in the open position? This will rule out a lock problem if it works and point to movement/expansion issues.

    Merbau Finish?

mac391, I got the info from the back of the Osmo can. WoodYouLike, Is there any reason why i can't just use the top coat? This would probably keep the wood a little lighter, wouldn't it? Thanks for your replies.

    Merbau Finish?

Hi all, i'm about to sand a herringbone floor that is probably Merbau. Can anybody recommend a good finish for this wood? I was going to use Osmo Polyx but it is not recommended for dark hardwoods. I'd preferably like the wood to stay as light as possible but realize that the "wetting effect"...

    Rafter Insulation

Thanks ajrobb and Nickam, I can't add to the roof height as it runs quite tightly under the upstairs window cills. The wall between the rooms and the void is blockwork, so not easily insulated. Putting the insulation under the rafters is the ideal scenario, but not easily acheived, although...

    Rafter Insulation

Thanks Chukka63, Getting sheets of insulation into the void could be difficult but not impossible. The roof will be stripped back and refelted whatever option i take. I will be replacing the fascias and soffits, so over fascia vents or breathable felt are both an...

    Rafter Insulation

It's no problem removing and replacing the tiles and battens. My query was with the insulation/condensation/ventilation of the space. I'm a carpenter and do a little roofing from time to time. Thanks for your help. Nick.

    Lifting Herringbone Floor

Thanks for replying Mac. I decided not to go down the circular saw route as i want to reuse the blocks. Anyhow, i went ahead with my plan and was as careful as possible cutting the tongues and then lifting out the loose blocks with a screw and pliers. I was probably lucky that there was enough...

    Lifting Herringbone Floor

Hi all, I've got some lifted 9" by 2 3/4" t&g blocks, which i presume were stuck down with bitumen or tar and need to take them out to refix them(they aren't moving, they sound hollow when you tap them). The problem is they are away from the edge so can't be removed block by block(if...

    EGR Problem

Hi all, I hope you can help with a problem that I've just had. I've had problems with the EGR on my 51 plate Scenic 1.9dci. It's been cleaned twice with good results. The car now doesn't run after loosing power over 400 miles or so on way home from hols. Anyway, it was recovered by AA from...

    Petrol in diesel car

An update. I was lucky to get a hose into the tank as there was no anti-syphon device installed, drained as much as i could (approx 25litres), put 12 litres of diesel in the tank, started it up and drove to the "diesel" garage and filled it to the brim. There was some "knock" initially on...

    Petrol in diesel car

Collect in a polypropylene container, decant into a bigger one with a lid and then take it to a waste station as suggested by the council. Mechanic and builder eh. is there no end to your talents? :D Nicksun.
