New tank thermostat still giving scalding water

I haven't changed any wiring but there might be a new fault somewhere. I'm away at the moment but will add something when I'm back. Thanks @ianmcd

New tank thermostat still giving scalding water

Sorry for the delay in updating this but for anyone still interested ... I've been trying a few options but not getting anywhere. 1. I changed the tank thermostat but it didn't help. I therefore suspect it isn't a tank thermostat problem and even the old one is probably OK. 2. I checked the...

New tank thermostat still giving scalding water

@75pete - yes, I got the Heating and Hot Water one. @stem - I think there were three wires on the thermostat. I'll check later. I copied the wiring exactly from the old one. For the Hive, I had a common backplate so I didn't change any of the wiring. I presume the wiring doesn't need to be...

New tank thermostat still giving scalding water

@Motman - if I used the immersion heater, should that heat the water to the correct temperature, ie that set by the tanl thermostat? Is so, I could test if the thermostat was working correctly.

New tank thermostat still giving scalding water

Thanks for all your replies. @Motman - Yes, I've been told my system has a Y connector. Is that different from an S-Plan. Too confusing for me! I'll check the pipes to see if the valve is getting stuck. I think the valve is quite new (this year) but that doesn't seem to mean much! @Hugh...

New tank thermostat still giving scalding water

It always takes me a while to work out exactly what heating system I have. I had to look up C-Plan, but I think I have an S-Plan, with a motorised valve (pictured below). I can independently control my hot water and heating. Does that sound right? Everything was working fine with...

New tank thermostat still giving scalding water

I'll sort something out tomorrow. The thermostat was an exact swap of the old one so should be OK but something is obviously wrong. Thanks Novice!

New tank thermostat still giving scalding water

A little while ago, the hot water tank on my pumped heating system started producing scolding water. Doing a bit of research, it pointed to an issue with the tank thermostat. It was many years old so I bought and fitted a new one. Same problem - scolding water. I tried adjusting the...

How do I remove my bath tap?

Yep - that's it. 2 bonus points to you. Minus 2 points to me. Not feeling that clever at the moment!

How do I remove my bath tap?

Hmmm I hadn't thought about that. I know that screws can be hidden under these things but I didn't think about it for my taps for some reason. I'll have a look. Thanks Dave.

How do I remove my bath tap?

I have a dripping bath tap but I can't work out how to take the tap off to repair it. It is a 'quarter turn' mixer bath tap but it doesn't have any visible screws and I'm nervous of just pulling it off. My guess is that it contains a cartridge but I need to work out how to get into it to find...
