Removing Concealed Thermostatic Shower Valve Plate

Thanks, I had assumed those chrome rings were screwed to the brass assembly behind. but looking at another one of these it looks like they are just spacers. Next question: How can I remove the cartridge? I tried turning the black plastic nut but it started to disintegrate :(

Removing Concealed Thermostatic Shower Valve Plate

I'm trying to remove this shower valve face plate. The plate retaining rings are stuck to the plastic collar and the plate, they won't budge. Anyone any ideas please? Shower-plate by outmyway posted 7 Dec 2021 at 7:20 PM
