Hide Electric Water Heater - ideas needed

Hi all, I have a wall mounted small water heater near the ceiling on the bathroom wall. It could be moved when I completely gut in there shortly but am wondering first of all if anyone has any ideas for 'camaflaging' it. It is situated directly above the toilet in the centre of a wall which is...

    slat opening mechanism repairable?

Sorry for the delay, internet been down. They are aluminium frames with "slats" which open and close - like an old fashioned "shutter"? I wouldn't really call them blinds, they're on the outside of the windows.

    slat opening mechanism repairable?

I have aluminium shutters with little winders that open and close the slats - however, each and every one (4) has broken! As turning they stopped suddenly and wouldn't move at all, when wound with slightly more force something obviously gave inside and now the winding machinsm thing just...

putting a wooden dining room table outside...

Hi vv I'm in the canaries, we do have a 2nd hand furniture shop nearby but they don't deliver and most apartments etc here are sold ready furnished so there's not a huge turn around. Possibly because of the high demand, patio furniture is expensive and there is limited choice. A wooden 2...

putting a wooden dining room table outside...

Dear Imamartian Thanks, that is what I feared... so back to the DIY shop for a little machine to do all the rubbing for me :-) I think that is what this stuff is supposed to do, protect from any added air moisture, I made sure in the shop to make it clear that's what I needed and not just a...

putting a wooden dining room table outside...

Hi Big All We get maybe 5 days rain in the whole year here and, as I said, the table will be undercover of a canvas canopy - so no rain and no direct sun. I have had a wooden fold out chair (€15) and small wooden fold out picnic table (€25) in the same position for 3 months and, so far, so...

putting a wooden dining room table outside...

Ok, don't laugh. Patio furniture locally appears to be quite expensive and large, so I have bought a reasonable priced dining room table to put on the terrace. The wood does not appear to be waxed or overly varnished (not shiny), just a "normal" wood finish. There is often a morning dew...

Air Conditioning Wall Unit Recommedations - Spain

Hi DeltaT, thanks for your reply. I went ahead and had one fitted through a large department store here. Apparently the make is well known on the spanish mainland and the store work with them over other names as the parts are available quickly, are not massively expensive and last well. No...

Air Conditioning Wall Unit Recommedations - Spain

Hi guys, am looking to replace an a/c unit (shop will fit it) but need to know what to look for when buying. Have looked at specs but they are too technical. Should I stick with well known brand names or are unheard of ones often as good when it comes to a/c's? Or if easier to tell me, what...

Moving a Toilet - more trouble than it's worth?

Need to revamp my bathroom and am thinking of putting the toilet where the bidet used to be (where a washing machine is currently plumbed in). I understand that the "sump pipe?" will need to be widened? Good workmen around here are short in supply it seems (or I just never find them), is this...

    Query b4 I buy 3m curtain pole

Have had a look through other related issues on this subject but none are quite the same as I need. Am looking to buy a 3m long, reasonably solid, metal curtain pole and want to not have a central support so that the curtains can be pulled from one side (patio windows are not in middle of...

Can holes be made in anything?

Thanks very much guys - will talk to a carpenter and expect a good job! Plugs are two prong (Small, spanish) design but wouldn't know how to take them off! :-)

Can holes be made in anything?

Hello, I recently bought a wall unit and on delivery discovered that the shelf under where the tv goes, has a solid back (plywood I think, it's not an expensive unit) but I wanted to put the DVD player underneath. Now there's no where for the cables to go to do that - is it possible for a...

    Edging a wonky glass wall

I seem to have been the target of not entirely professional workmanship again... I had a wall built in the kitchen, half concrete blocks (I think) and the upper half of glass blocks. However the wall tappers very slightly towards the bottom and the uppermost glass block is slightly offline...
