    Connecting to old plastic pipe

Can I use standard push fit bits on this old plastic pipe ? The fittings at the end are marked with hbp but rather than try and remove them simply cut the pipe and add a push fit connection instead. Is that possible or do I have to use some special sort of fitting on them ? Thanks!
