How flat should a tile be?

About a year ago I bought some Porcelanosa Marmi Blanco 600x300 rectified tiles to put up in my ensuite, but due to a couple of reasons I was unable to fit them at the time. Now, I am getting geared up to fit them and I though I would give them a check over. It seems that when I look down...

    boarding all/part of loft

I am planning on boarding some of the loft in a new build for a friend of mine. It seems the sheds all sell loft panels in 1200x300 or so panels so you can get them in and up. My question is, if the panels are T&G'd all the way round, then I guess you don't have to worry about the edges...

I need to cut the following types of tiles and was wondering what you recommendations were for wet cut tile cutters. Although I am a DIY'er I don't like buying cheap crap so want something fairly decent, but don't want to break the bank as will only use if for 2/3 bathrooms! Floor tiles -...

    Schluter Ditra matting - fixing

Quick question, I have got some ditra matting to put down before tiling my floor. Do you have to use a rapid set adhesive? I was planning on using BAL singlepart flexible adhesive as that is what I was planning to use to tile the floor also (black galaxy style granite 300x300x9mm). Is...

    mirror in bathroom

I was wondering if you need a special type of mirror (backing) for a bathroom mirror? I have just bought one to stick to my sall with mirror adhesive, and will also be using a mirror demisting pad, but am not sure if standard mirror backing (in this case green) is OK for bathroom...

Light scratches and scuffs on new plaster

I just had my ensuite plastered but now that its dried out, I notice that there are a fair number of light scratches in places and the odd scuff mark mainly in the edges. I am guessing that once I seal it I will see even more. So, am I well within my rights to ask them to come back, and if...

Just wanted to double check - is it ok to use the BAL WP1 kit directly onto MR plasterboard? I know its fine for normal board but the instructions don't mention MR board so wanted to double check. Ta

    Moisture resistant Plasterboard - plastering

I am thinking of using moisture resistant plasterboarding to board our my ensuite - as its a fairly humid area. The shower area will be tanked and then tiled, but for the rest I was going to have it plastered and then paint it. However, reading the details on the Gyproc site regarding the...

    Joining Aquapanel

As some of you may know, I am doing my ensuite. I was thinking of using plasterboard in the shower area and then tanking it with BAL WP1, but I am not wondering if it will be easier, or maybe cheaper, to use Aquapanel on these 3 bits of wall. Anyone got any ideas or comments on this...

    Anyone used this?

Am redoing my ensuite and am thinking of putting an Aqualisa HiQu Digital shower (concealed) in. Anyone used them - or any of the other Aqualisa digital showers - and have any comments? I presume the connections to the digital box are OK for copper? I think they are pushfits - damn them...

    OK to plaster onto plywood?

Is it ok to plaster directly onto plasterboard - does it need sealing at all? Or do you have to put some expanding mesh or something over it first? In my ensuite I am putting a wall hung toilet in and understand that I should use either 2 layers of plasterboard or can use 18mm ply.

Wedi board/similar vs plasterboard and tanking

For a boxed in (3 wall + shower door) type shower, would something like a tiling backer board, eg wedi board, be better/easier/cheaper than plasterboard and WP1 tanking? As you can get wedi board in 12.5mm, if I can use this and not tank then might work out better or cheaper for the same...
