Yeah, here you go. Should be fairly straightforward from here...(y)

    Connector block for lamp

Found the bits taped inside part of the lamp in the bottom of the box, some crimps and a block, so the fitting is legit, everyone calm down. I'll use Wagos anyway rather than crimps.

    Connector block for lamp

Some assembly is always required, you can't send them through the post built up. 15 low wattage dimmable led's will be fine. It's not really about the number of lamps. I'll use some Wago connectors and daisy chain them. Thanks.

    Connector block for lamp

Hi, I have a new multi bulb ceiling lamp which requires assembly. That's fine but there is no provision for joining the wires together. Is there a recommended type of block or whatever that would do the job? I have two wires from each bulb, so 15 brown and 15 blue, that have to connect to the...

    Soaker Upstand Sizing

Thanks, is that coverage okay for a dormer? The suggestion was that 100mm was better, but not available off the shelf?

    Soaker Upstand Sizing

I don't have pictures during, but have mocked up an equivalent. Each soaker on top of each tile with subsequent tiles just overlapping the ends of each soaker by 5mm or so. One nail through the tile nail hole to stop any sliding downhill.

    Soaker Upstand Sizing

Hello. I'm re-tiling my roof and have used aluminium soakers with a 75mm upstand at a wall. Plain concrete tiles (165x268). See picture. I think it's okay, but I've read that it should have a minimum 65mm upstand for the flashing to cover. The most I have is about 62mm, but it drops to 45mm...

    Concrete Lintel

Just to clarify; the stonework isn't cracked. There's a dark vein running through it. As the beam moves "seasonally", it will of course crack away from any pointing. Which is why I said in my first post that I would rather not plaster over it once it's internal. One of the reasons for removing...

    Concrete Lintel

Thanks Woody. I gain a decent bit of timber that won’t mess up my new stonework and matches the rest of the property. Not something that can be easily, or cheaply, bought. The effort is worthwhile, sometimes it’s not just about taking the easy option.... Cheers.

    Concrete Lintel

Hi, I'm building a porch across this opening and want to change the wooden lintel. This is so I can use it above the new window in the porch as it has done all of it's major movement in the last fifty years or so, and therefore wont mess with the new stonework. And secondly, because if left...

    Eaves ventilation on 60's re-furb?

I think you're probably right! You read so much stuff on the web, trying not to go wrong, and it gets in your head! o_O Cheers.

    Eaves ventilation on 60's re-furb?

Hi FMT, thanks for replying. Yes, the drawing is as you have seen it. The manufacturers state that the breathable membrane can go either above or below the c/batten, and above (as shown) works better. It means it will exit into the gutter (via some 5m eaves felt) easier. Fitted below the...

    Eaves ventilation on 60's re-furb?

Hi, As part of a loft conversion on my 1963 bungalow, I'm upgrading the original 40° cut pitched roof. It's a warm roof detail to allow for maximum headroom inside. The specs of that are all good, no problems, however, that system finishes at the wallplate on the inner leaf. The top layer of...

How big is a bag of ballast?

A 'tonne', or large bag, is generally 850kg, they won't list it as a tonne for that reason. The equivalent in small bags would be in the region of 35 for the same weight. To be fair, it's not their job to second guess what your project is, or whether you are mixing at 4:1 6:1 or any other...

    How close to build?

I think he means the gap between neighbours that have added lean-tos, not a gap between the lean-to and house wall.

1YR Old Patio destroyed by the frost HELP needed!!

Is it not going to need a re-think anyway with the height of that drop, once your baby starts crawling everywhere. Railings or whatever. Or were you planning on selling up before that happens? Just a thought if you were pulling some of it up again.

Contractor asking for bank details and tax reference?

As Dann09 inferred above, if you end up in dispute and get taken to the small claims court, and the contractor wins his case against you, you can simply choose to ignore the judgement. Having your bank details though, he can subsequently ask the court to freeze your account and the bank are...

Nail plates and square twist nails.

I guess offsetting them slightly would work. I thought this would be a fairly typical set up with a lot of rafters (especially older) being 47-50mm. Just wondered what the normal practise was. I'll assume like similar metalwork to nail every available hole. What about rafter doubling? I'm...
