    Dangerous children's novelty light

    There's been talk of tat Chinese imports of late so thought I'd pipe up. I've been asked if I can fix this... Extra low voltage power supply line and neutral pins snapped off leaving them not protruding, but exposed with shutter open, in a child's room. Pins are poor quality and appear undersized.

    Compression gland onto plastic conduit?

    Today I saw a gland that was glued onto the end of plastic conduit. Is there a more suitable way of attaching this? Slightly related, has anyone attempted to thread plastic conduit?

    Transit connect windscreen wiper mechanism

    They stopped working but they work if I physically move the passenger wiper blade. Any ideas as to what could be the problem before I tear it to pieces?

    Pub tables

    Can anyone recommend any products/tips? The top layer has worn away completely leaving bare wood. Im thinking of staining rather than a varnished finish as I feel it would be harder wearing but any suggestions most welcome. Due to the nature of the business a quick drying product would be most...

    todays find

    Random tripping. Both inner insulation and sheath very brittle causing random tripping. Maybe not very interesting for the pro's but I can't believe its got this far...The adjacent unit in same condition.

    Dimmer switches

    Has anyone had experience of regularly replacing dimmers? I do a bit of basic minor work in pubs and this one particular site seems to go through them more than others. Varilite 60 - 400 and well within the limits. Could a fluctuating supply damage them?

    Public areas - water based over gloss?

    I've been asked to paint some doors, frames, skirting boards, within restaurant areas so needs to be touch dry within approx 2 hours, and hopefully not too smelly! Can anyone suggest any products/techniques on a pre-existing oil based gloss finish?

    Just been told that its taking about 45 mins to "get going." Could it be the starting capacitor, or speed control unit, or grease buildup? I know you can't give a definitive answer but hoping someone here has had a similar problem.
