Texecom - adding new wireless keypad.

Hi, I have an already installed Texecom Premier Elite alarm, the screen on the wired keypad got smashed. I bought a new (used) one on eBay, upon turning it on, it asks if you want to connect to the ricochet network, when you press tick if searches for 30 seconds then says it can’t find a...

How to replace glass on UPVC front door?

Evening, we have a broken window on our front door. I'm not sure if the glass can be removed or whether I need to replace the whole door? What looks like beading, isn't beading. I've taken the door out and it doesn't come out that way? Any idea's?

Texecom Ricochet alarms as soon as door opens.

Hi, I have just fitted a Texecom Premier Elite 64--W with 2x PIR and 1x Door Contact in my garage. The door contact is setup as OMISSABLE / ACCESS & ENTRY / EXIT 2. When the door is opened the alarm is set off immediately. It is also set to Timed, but it makes no difference. Thanks.

    Rendering blocks on a pond.

I'm finally rendering the outside of my pond wall. It is made of hollow (figure of eight) blocks. Should I use PVA to seal the wall first? Or just wet the wall and start rendering? Thanks,

    Toilet not filling very fast.

My toilet cistern has started refilling very slowly. It seems to fill faster if the ring on the left of the picture is loosened slightly. Can it be adjusted in this way or is the ring purely for holding the arm on that stops the flow? Thanks.

    Condensation on incoming water pipe.

How much condensation should you get on the main cold water inlet to the house? Sometimes it's dripping off the stoptap but not a constant drip, just there is water there that looks like its ready to drip. Also when removing part of a kitchen unit today where the pipe goes into the concrete...

    Mould in cupboard.

We have a cupboard under our stairs that is against an outside wall. We seem to get a lot of mould growing on items in there, mainly shoes and bags. The walls / carpet and ceiling seem to be unaffected. There is no ventilation to the room.  Would adding a vent help the problem? If so, vented to...

Identifying heating flow and return pipes on boiler.

I have a boiler that powers the central heating and hot water storage tank with no valves. I am going to add an extra Zone into the central heating. From the boiler there are 2x 22mm pipes and 2x 28mm pipes. I need to know which ones to fit the 2x 2-way valves into. I can't see where the pipes...

Adding an extra Zone in central heating.

I need to add an extra Zone into my central heating that's independently controlled. I'm going to use 2x 2-way valves, one in the original pipework and the other on the new zone that comes off of a T. Do I need to do this on both the flow and return or can I get away with doing it on just the...

    Central Heating for pond.

Someone is coming next week to fit some valves onto the central heating to create a new central heating zone. ie. A radiator circuit that can be controlled separately to the rest of the house. Hopefully the valves should be installed near the hot water cylinder. The pipes will then leave the...

    Mould in corner of room.

We have noticed mould in a corner of a room gradually getting worse: It's a dormer bungalow, so the roof eaves are above this corner of this room. There is a room above this which effectively in the loft, this room has a dormer window. I've taken apart one of the fitted wardrobes and...

    No water in pump!

I've fixed a couple of leaks in my central heating. Upon restarting the heating was only warming 2 downstairs radiators. I've bled the system twice, but upon bleeding the pump there is no water coming out of the centre screw. The pump sounds like it is turning. I've connected the mains...

    Homebase Central Heating problems.

I bought 2 'Classico' Radiators from Homebase but had problems with the mounts. They clamp around the cylindrical shape of the radiator, but failed to hold it. The radiator would slide down the mounts while it was still unfilled. Upon tightening further the 'thread' (which was cut into the...

Flexible hoses in Central Heating system.

After having a nightmare moving central heating pipes to fit a new radiator, I used a couple of Flexible Hoses (the rubber pipe with stainless steel overbraid) a couple of days later I wondered whether they were in fact suitable for central heating? I've not filled the system yet, so now...
