Neff oven and 10 amp fuse.

In another thread opps said: "My previous Neff oven required a 10 amp fuse" Read more: https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/electric-fan-oven.591065/#ixzz7SAlLp0Sb If the MI said that they are wrong. The purpose of the fuse is to protect the cable not the oven on the end of it which should be...

    Bathroom zones.

Does anyone know why virtually all zone diagrams on the web are wrong and show a zone round the washbasin? Even well known suppliers seem to get it wrong.

    Yet more censorship

I see once again my factually correct posts have been removed thus preventing members from learning from their misconceptions. I thought the idea of these forums was to help not to perpetuate incorrect terms. Am I wrong?

    13amp sockets on lighting circuits.

SUNRAY wrote: "When I know it's a 6A circuit, I work within that capacity. However it appears winston1 insists on loading 13A sockets with higher power devices even though he knows the installation is not designed for it. As far as I can make out, it's because he doesn't have the inteligence...

Using pre installed cooker circuit for 13amp or 16amp oven. (2)

Once again the MODS have censored me from answering on the original thread WHY, WHY, WHY? SUNRAY wrote: All I've stated is: 1) Under fault conditions with an element shorting to earth the fault current could be anywhere from the original rating of the element to the full potential earth fault...

    Shower fire revisited

RF Lighting said in the other thread: "You would use the local isolator to switch off your now on fire shower in an emergency. Well you would if some idiot hadn’t told you that you don’t need an isolator." As I seem to have been locked out of that thread I'll answer here. If I had a fire...

    CONTACTING MODS

Does anyone know how I can contact the mods. One of them is deleting my posts completely unnecessarily. One of the most recent was a thread about melting lampholders when I suggested using LED lamps rather than incandescent. This was deleted (censored) even though the OP had thanked me and said...

Current rating of BS1363 socket terminals.

I'm thinking of a 4mm radial circuit on a 32 amp MCB. The socket nearest the MCB has to carry the full current of the radial and this could approach 32 amps. Is this OK?

    Lighting circuits not on rings

So many posters get this wrong. Yet when I corrected someone on this recently it was deleted as unhelpful. Why was this? Surely it is helpful to correct peoples mistakes. Some mistakes can cost lives. The OP was not bothered though one of the regular posters seemed to be.

    More censorship.

TTC gave incorrect information in the thread: "Transformer change in ceiling appliance" He claimed that lamp bases were (commonly) called MR16. They are not, MR16 is not a base. All he had to do was say what they were namely GU5.3. I replied with the correct information and it was deleted...

    To Sunray

Are you a mod? If so are you censoring my post? We happen to live in a free country where people have freedom of speech. You posted:- "Winston please stop this rubbish you keep spouting. The OP Knows exactly what he means, I know exactly what he means, Every other person reading this knows...

    PL9 tube problem

A relative asked me to look at a lamp he was having trouble with. It was a ceiling mounted IKEA lamp with two PL9 tubes in series with a conventional magnetic ballast about three years old. Problem was one of the tubes had failed (continuous failing to start) so he had ordered 2 new tubes from...

    Another smart meter

Had an SMS yesterday from a relative asking if they have an electric boiler as their gas had been off a couple of days and they were still getting hot water. So I phoned back and said "Yes, but you shouldn't be using it normally as electricity is 3 times the cost of gas. Why is your gas off."...

    Manufacturers instructions

A good reason not to follow them. This is for a recently purchased Cooke and Lewis oven from B & Q. Incidentally B & Q don't stock the suggested fuse!

    LED drivers and transformers.

I sent the following email to LED Hut yesterday: "Message: Why are you describing LED DC power supplies as 'transformers'? They are NOT transformers which are AC devices. This can be very confusing for customers. Please correct this mis-information." They have replied: "Thank you very much...

Pointless squabble: sockets on lighting circuits

As you say you are not supposed to put 13 amp sockets on a lighting circuit THEN DON'T DO IT. It is actually not forbidden as the legislators have not yet realised anyone would be so stupid to do it. I cannot see from your switch picture what is what. Don't assume blue wires are neutral. You...

Musings on the futility of Life, the Universe, and the term "Low Voltage"

Do you know what low voltage is? The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) defines supply system low voltage as voltage in the range 50–1000 V AC or 120–1500 V DC. Do you want to rephrase your question because, as you can see, 240 volt mains is low voltage?

    Mistory mod

Who is this nameless mistory mod cutting into my answers? In the latest example I was not misleading anyone. That is being done by LED Hut among others misdescribing their products. Another example of suppliers not knowing what they are selling.
