Downlighters in lath and plaster ceiling

Can low voltage downlighters be put in a lath and plaster ceiling? I already have downlighters in a plasterboard ceiling and they get very hot and realise they would be a fire risk in lath and plaster as well as most probably unacceptable. Thanks in advance.

    Bathroom fan. Timer or Humidistat

I want to change a fan in the bathroom from a normal pullcord one to either one with a timer or with a humidistat. Which one is better and why or is it personal preference? Do both need three core and earth cable and does this mean they will need a permanent and switched live? Anything...

    Changing of hall light

I have a light in the hall which is on a pendant where the pendant also acts as a junction box for the circuit ie loop in and loop out. Fire rated downighters and smokehoods

Do fire rated downlighters need smokehoods? Understand lighting is subjective but if installing mains voltage GU10 downlighters in a galley kitchen 2.6m wide what from experience is the best/sensible: distance apart lengthwise? distance from wall above worktop? wattage and spread...

Acova Radiators cold at bottom hot at top

I have had all of my radiators replaced at the same time and having done some research tried to balance the radiators because the Acova Radiators I had fitted are cold in the middle bottom and hot at the top, left and right. Don't think its sludge because the boiler was replaced maybe a...

    RCD's, RCBO's, RCCD's

Read an interesting post here about RCD's v RCBO's but it was so technical it went way over my head. When would you only install a consumer unit with RCD's and why? When would you only install a consumer unit with RCBO's and why? When would you only install a consumer unit with RCCD's...
