    LED drivers and transformers.

Companies get better and better at making things idiot proof. Nature keeps making better idiots. I know this for a fact.

    Ceiling downligts replacement.

PD??? Wossathten? A Pouble Denetration? What does it stand for? As for the doing things to MIs, they never mention something like: 'This is a class II item so no earth needed, and if you're existing cable has an earth included, this is what you should do'. RFM is possibly my most used expression...

    Ceiling downligts replacement.

There is not class II mention but there is an earth provision on the connector and an earth symbol on the housing. I never knew that it was a no-no to connect an earht to doubled insulated items. What is the bad thing/danger/risk about it? It is very common for boiler controls etc to be class II...

    Ceiling downligts replacement.

Muchas gracias senhor. The new ones are metal case so do need all three wires any way. I very much doubt that whoever stuck them in originally had the foggiest idea what he was doing any way. Fire regs were breached. Metallic parts not earhted. Cables run hither and yon, partially as spurs...

Why 10mm² for main bond cable ?

The massive cable to bond gas and water pipes is primarily to make sure that any phase somehow touching a metal pipe will pop the fuse/mcb in a matter of milliseconds so as to avoid any risk of people using a tap or bath or shower getting toasted. When you're showering/bathin you're even more...

    Ceiling downligts replacement.

Good day leccy gurus and thanks for your help in advance. I'm replacing the old, cheap rubbish downlights with new model that meets energy, fire and sound requirments. Apart from the construction being a pain it the you-know-what to put in, I found they are wired up with regular 3-core flex. Is...

Are you a new(ish) Baxi customer?

Not that it makes any difference to Baxi offering a six day wait for a doa product, but I am fully trained, qualified and certified to install any and all g20 boilers up to 230,000 btu unless they are specifically designed for commercial use like the Remeha Quinta and also specifically trained...

Are you a new(ish) Baxi customer?

At the end of the process of installing a new Baxi 228, I found it doa (dead on arrival i.e. faulty coming out of the box) and had to break the news to a not too happy customer. If that wasn't bad enough, Baxi told me that the absolute earliest they could get an engineer out was SIX DAYS!!! My...

Hi Dan, you may want to try Aqueous Logic's Sludge Remover (totally different from their system cleaner). I have used it on very badly blocked systems and it's the best thing on the market where full on acid like FX2 ot DS40 can not be used e.g. due to low flow.

    Bitumen felt recommendation

Flat roof repair will be done with adhesive as for various reasons torching is not an attractive option. It's an existing flat roof with what looks like just one layer bitumen and not a very thick one either of the non-uv type i.e. just the black felt, which had some shingle on it. Not measured...

    Mold in one corner

Thanks Blighty. There is an extraction fan already. I'm looking at getting a better one and possibly one that's humidity triggered rather than one that runs of the lighting. I should have explained myself more clearly. I know the mold will keep coming back as long as the damp problem itself...

    Mold in one corner

Very persistent mold, mostly in the corner of the side and rear wall in a bathroom extension and above the skirting on one short wall. Few small splotches here and there, too. I've inspected the flat roof very carefully and it looks in good nick without any damage or wear anywhere. The facias...

    Felt adhesive

Cheers dude, fibrous sealant it is. t won't need more attention, it will be done properly when the funds have been replenished. Tiled roof has just been done so the coffers are now empty. Next summer will see some woodwork done that should have been done 5 years ago. The year after that the...

    Felt adhesive

With all due respect guys, the basic question was if there are any bitumen adhesives that are particularly good or particularly bad to use as a solution where using a flame really isn't such a great idea.

    Felt adhesive

Acryol looks like a good product, but as it's a charity project, it's a bit out of the budget. :(
