Remedials on a EICR / DNO responsibility

Hi folks, Asked to do some minor remedials on a third-party EICR. Query is this: it is the DNO's responsibility to upgrade the main earth (TN-S) to MET. It is currently approx 4mm CSA. The Ze is 0.36. Main bonding is all good. So would the DNO bother to upgrade it, or deem it satisfactory...

120V on CPC and annoying MFT1552 fault

Hi, I recently rewired a lighting circuit, very simple set up of 5 pendants, 2 batten holders and 1 class I metal chandelier type fitting. Install is TT with Ze 62 ohms. IR all spot on and R2 approx 0.52ohms. I discovered that the CPC had 120V when it was not connected to earth. I know...

Ho Ho Ho, ahem, I mean Hi Hi Hi..... I was at a empty property on Friday and was (for the first time ever) stumped by what the supply types earth was. It consisted of three cloth covered singles ran from underground to the DB in steel(?) conduit. The three cores were L, N &E. The earth was...

Larger than 'normal' diameter downlights....with suitable IP

Hi Folks, I have been looking (fruitlessly) for a couple of white recessed spots suitable for a bathroom. They are replacing old tiltable ones which are not suited to the location. Both will be in Zone 2 above the bath. The problem I have is the current (not that type of current!) cutout...

    Dry lining boxes and Laths....

Hi folks, Does a deeper DLB exist that will happily 'lug' onto old lath and plaster walls that may be up to close to an inch thick? The deeper 47mm DLB's say they will accomodate upto 15mm in plaster depth, which is about the same as normal DLB's. It would be nicer (and much stronger)...

Hi Folks, I am a spark but have never touched intruder alarms before. Looking to replace panel at home (Optima XM) with a Accenta G4 panel and RKP. Have had a look at the current wiring (not planning to change this due to decor) and it is 6 core cable. I have not removed old cabling from...
