    Do we need to increase depth of joists?

    Looking at a loft conversion in a 50/60s bungalow - the joists which would make up the floor are only 4" thick. Is this sufficient (doesn't feel right) and can we jsut screw a 2" piece onto each to strengthen? Then at least we would have space to put insulation - we are thinking of replacing...

    floorboards over concrete and wood in the same room

    I have a new kitchen extension which has a concrete screeded floor which is open to and part of the sitting room,which has a suspended wooden floor. The levels are the same, so what can go underneath floorboards (or engineered wood) as a seamless floor? and how does the new floor go down - glued?

    new render - what now?

    Now my new kitchen extension is finished I have a newly rendered exterior wall. What do I need to do now - do i need to seal it before i paint it with exterior paint?
