Thanks for the help. Does underrated mean that the electrical load is too much for it, in which case what should I look for in a new switch? Also, if I need to cross connect the 2 gangs together on a new switch what sort of cable should I use, or is there a better way of doing it?

I have replaced a 2 gang dimmer switch for 2 sets of lights with a new switch, but the internals for the new switch are different. I have wired it up and both sets of lights work and dim OK, but after a while the switch heats up and one set of lights cuts out. After a while it cools and the...
