DIY Shed - things to consider...

Hi all, so I'm going to be building myself a shed, 24x9ft. Framed floor & roof, framed walls, plywood or OSB sheets on outside and in, some kind of membrane on outside and then maybe feather board clubbing, pent roof. I'm trying to get an idea of tools I would need to make it easier for me. I...

Texecom micro contact-W flashing, it didn't before

Hello, I've just replaced the coin battery in my Micro contact-W as the keypad told me to. Now the square button on the contact is slowing flashing green when secure, red when open, as it should so I read. However this never did it before, surely it'll eat up the battery? Can this be turned...

Decking on sloping concrete with shallow end...

Decking help, I want to deck this area, the red line shows the level I want, the concrete is on a slope, the bit I'm struggling to work out is that on the left the height will only be the height of a brick, about 4", allowing for the decking board width, that doesn't leave much space underneath...

    Sealing small area of screed

I have screed'd a 1x4ft area of floor where chimney used to be, rest of room is floorboards, I'm laminating the whole room with the green underlay pads, someone suggested I should seal it with unibond or wood glue? Do I need to? Unibond is £20 and it's a small area, I was wondering if its worth it?

How much would capping a chimney cost?

Hi, I've had to use my builder and rated people website to find a roofer to cap my chimney off, it's letting rain water in. How much would I expect this to roughly cost so I don't get ripped off? I'm in the Midlands. Thanks

Decking on concrete on a slant

Decking, I need to build 6m x 4m decking, however the concrete patio it's going on is slanted from the level it needs to be from 3inches one end to 8inches the other, using 4x2 joists won't work due to the 3inch depth, what are my options? (no I can't remove concrete base) Thank you

    Leveling old fireplace floor

What's the best way to level this out, we'll be slate tiling it at a later date, I just need it level for now. Self-leveling compound seem to be like liquid and it'd seep down in the cracks near floor boards. Can I just use a mortar mix? Thanks

Double layering plasterboard, I've read to stagger joints but also some do first layer horizontally and it doesn't matter if some edges overhang as long as the 2nd layer is on the studs and noggins correctly? Any ideas?

If I remove this, will my house fall down?

I'm wanting to stud wall this opening, I don't think it will fall down as I can't imagine the wood is providing any strength? It goes same direction as floor joists upstairs and has a wall above it.

    Stud walling a door opening

I'm filling in an internal doorway, stud frame with plasterboard. It's 204cm tall and 80cm wide. It's 13.5cm - 14cm deep, it varies, I've read I need about 3mm resess for the plasterer to skim. B&Q does C16 Stick timber (T)45mm (W)70mm (L)2400mm, this plus two layers 12.5mm board gives me 12cm...

Decking - would this be diy'able?

I'm wanting to deck this area, I was thinking it would be a freestanding unit and not need fixing down? Is that right? What be the best way to raise it off the floor? Those adjustable pads, timber posts? It slopes towards the house. Thank you for any ideas.
