    Panasonic Bread Maker

This board is different from the SD250. I don't see a motor capacitor in your photograph but the board looks a little cooked around the R4 resistor!

    Arctic or HO7RN-F extension lead?

I'm not sure how relevant this is but, back in the day, I was into amateur radio and there was always a discussion about antennæ and planning permission. To cut to the end, a "fixed" antenna tower over 4m high required planning permission but a "mobile" installation didn't. The accepted...

    Arctic or HO7RN-F extension lead?

It's the plugs and sockets that are the point of failure, not the glands (which will now be indoors). I always prefer to minimise the number of connections, if I possibly can. And the money saved on IP67 connectors and the interlocked socket outlet will almost cover the additional cost of the...

    Arctic or HO7RN-F extension lead?

If I'm leaving the SWA on the ground, I won't bother with plugs and sockets - they're just another point of failure and water ingress! I'll go through the wall and put earthed glands on the inside.

    Arctic or HO7RN-F extension lead?

I thought you had to bury SWA 450-600mm below the surface with sand and marker tape and all that stuff? Neither my back nor my wallet is up for that. However, if it's okay to leave SWA on the surface, I'll do that (as I have about 20m of 3 core 6mm SWA in the garage)!

    Arctic or HO7RN-F extension lead?

I think I'll go for the rubber - it might be more UV stable and flexible than the PVCÒ and it will mostly be out in the summer. I reckon it'll probably weigh around 15kg. Thanks for all the warnings about (not) rule-following. Duely noted (but this post was about the type of cable).

    Arctic or HO7RN-F extension lead?

Huh? What does that mean? Are they only suitable for caravan and boat owners, people who work in data centre comms rooms and building site labourers?!

    Arctic or HO7RN-F extension lead?

Good point John but I'd feel happier with another RCD and a couple of MCBs in case someone wants to plug in a hedge trimmer or something. The CU also acts as a convenient JB and an isolator inside the shed and, in the grand scheme of things, doesn't cost that much more.

    Arctic or HO7RN-F extension lead?

It's going to be 20-30m long from the end of an outbuilding (with its own CU and RCD) to the summerhouse. The load coud be anything 50W to 5000W depending on whether she's charging a phone or running a heater. Burying SWA was my original thought but it's too much work for temporary use (probably...

Magnetic gate lock from Texecom PSU200XP

    1. Back EMF from the lock might upset the alarm. 2. You don't want a fault in the lock (or its cabling) to take out the alarm's psu. 3. It's good practice to keep the alarm and its power supples separate from other things - use an alarm output to trigger a relay to operate the lock and a...

    Arctic or HO7RN-F extension lead?

Quick question: I'm intending to run a summer house from a 4mm extension lead that will be run out when her shed is in use. I'll be using IP67 32A "Commando"-type plugs and sockets. Would you go for blue arctic cable or black HO7RN-F cable? The rubber is marginally lighter in weight but with a...

    Panasonic bread maker SD 2511

@ScotGooner Same symptoms as I had - won't cook a wholemeal loaf except on 'Rapid'... Change the capacitor (it takes a while!) from the thread that EddieM posted.

    Panasonic Bread Maker

I like the look of the TDK one, not too big either! Like many others, I bought mine from Maplin in the early days of this thread! It's still working now (in fact, I have a loaf baking at this very moment!). I had a quick look through some other suppliers but most seem to be 85°C and around a fiver.

You'd be better off with something with a higher temperature spec, like 105°C...

New shed, old wood with woodworm.

I've taken down my old sheds and had a spanking new one installed. I'm going to put shelves in it and I was going to use the timber from the old shed as batons. I've just run it through the planer thicknesses and discovered woodworm - I have no idea if it's active but the timber is probably...

Bosch Exxcel 8 washing machine bearings compatibility.

That's what I thought. I guess we'll just buy whatever cheap machine is on special offer... I don't fancy spending a couple of hours disassembling a eight year old, gunge filled machine on the off chance that I can find a way of bodging in some new bearings! Thank you all for your time.

How to wire Texecom Odyssey grade 3 sound with Scantronic 9651

No fault input on the 9651 but you could use one of the zones, like secureiam said.

Bosch Exxcel 8 washing machine bearings compatibility.

The drum bearings on my old Bosch washing machine are shot. I've looked up the model number, WAQ24461GB/12, on a few spares websites but no one has the appropriate part. As a bearing set with seal and screws costs north of £50 and takes an age to fit (according to YouTube), I don't want to get...
