Wondered if anyone can help out here. I have a new light switch that has L1 L2 and common. The old light switch only had L1 L2 L3 and L4. The red went into L1 and black into L3. How do I wire up the new switch? I do have a multimeter but don't like using it when the main is still on!

Had a look round but unable to find anything. Are you able to repair drill holes left in upvc frames? Previous owner had drilled blinds into them and want to cover them up if possible. Thanks
